the frickin' shiiizznooot. I thought it would be hard to top his January set here, a set which was my favorite of his in probably the last 2 1/2 - 3 years...and well, he did it EASILY.
It was like he started what you would think would be in his last hour right off the bat. He was playing dark prog trance representative of his style in the late 90s within like the first 30 minutes. And he played lots of it throughout the entire set!!! Lots of amazing electro! Lots of amazing banging prog. WOWOWOWOWOW!!! Don't think I've ever seen a crowd going so crazy to a prog DJ before. The whole place was jumping!!
It was just fookin awessomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. AWESOMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I want more Digweed!!!! |

Wow, last night was intense. It was great to get to meet you toolman and diskodave.
My mind is pretty scrambled. But I'm pretty sure he played a remix of Booka Shade - Mandarin Girl (or at least a remix of a booka shade song). Also I heard the wavy gravy sample going at one point, so I'm pretty sure there was a remix of that played.
Wow! |

| Hmm, my reaction is decidedly mixed. A lot of good stuff, but a lot of stuff I wasn't so hot about, too. |

| alain octavio threw down a great opening set. i only heard the last half hour but it was very edgy dark prog and some sick electro. union jack - two full moons and a trout (chab remix) ch000n! then digweed comes on with a storming first 3 hours. it didn't even feel like a set composed of a tl, it was like he started off with a beat then layer by layer took it on a ride for 3 hours. i think everyone remembers that pure OWNAGE track he dropped towards the middle with the heavy bassline that swung in and out... he played the same track in january and you just stood there counting the beats until the bassline rolled through your chest :eyespop: around 2 digweed played some tribal and breaks and then he kinda went on a weird bpm rollercoaster for the last hour. i almost myself when i heard 'eleven' coming in, i've never heard that ch00n play so loud and so clearly, not even when g&d dropped it themselves at the same club a few months ago. two other things that made the night: the whole crowd was on the same wavelength with the music, and the HVAC! there was cool air blowing down the whole night. i don't think i've ever been so comfortable inside a packed club. the whole experience was like the complete opposite of tiesto night :wtf: |

Yeah, there were positive vibes all over the place, and Ruby is a great venue. I also liked how well ventilated it was.
I like some of the proggier numbers he played, and his mixing was stellar as usual, but the distorted electro bloops covering most of the set unfortunately didn't resonate with me. I was hoping for something like his essential mix last year, and this was much darker, less melodic, and more buzzsaw electro. |

Seems like he plays more electroey in SF than at the Mayan. |

He played quite a bit of electro. And then he played A TON of the dark, deep, melodic, trancyish tracks (think Digweed in the late 90s). I was expecting to hear some after hearing about him playing it in his LA set, but not nearly as much as we god! Also probably why the crowd was so into it and jumping around. Lots of tracks with buildups and when the track would peak and go off the whole crowd would start hopping around like trance fairies :P
I know he played this stuff in the last hour (or two?) of his LA set but by he was playing it within the first 30-45 minutes of his set here and just kept it going.
IT WAS ING AWESOME. :P |
