Okee...so Saturday night was like a rollercoaster ride for me.
After getting only a couple of hours of sleep after Vibe, I was feeling extremely grumpy. I was tired and still feeling neck pains. My porkchop crew who don't usually come out to events decided to blow me off last minute. For about an hour my mind was struggling, trying to decided whether I should go or not. I was feeling very pessimestic...thinking about everything that could go wrong that night. I finally slapped myself in the face and just ignored myself...partly because some people I haven't had the opportunity to see in a while were comong. I got into the Guv with Kat around 12:00ish after waiting for some people outside who decided to stiff us  I immediately saw how packed the Guv was and frowned. Went into the patio and made my rounds, even though I was in no mood to be greeted, and my enthusiasm level was below 0. Lawler came on, the crowd got worse. After a while my patience ran out, and I was REALLY tempted to leave. It wasn't as bad as Halloween, but it was very uncomfortable and ridiculous, especially with the heat...
Before I decided to leave, I went into the patio for a bit with Karina...and that's where the roller coaster reached the climax and started to fall into a night of enjoyment. I looked at the corner and saw Nada grooving to the tunes. I don't understand why but her presence just totally lifted my spirits. So I stayed out there for quite a while and just chilled. Hugs N' Kisses came on...and then I went nuts. Went up into the Deluxe Lounge and finally headed to the skybar for Lawler's sunrise set. Even before Lawler went on, the place started to overflow. Like someone mentioned before, everyone was heading into a different direction...ing chaos! Lawler came on, it significantly got worse, and it didn't get any better, even until the end of his set. You know what though?...I didn't mind it at all. I always managed to find some dancing space, even if it wasn't enough for my full fledged clown moves. Not only that, but the weather was cool....I find that outdoor parties are the most enjoyable. It's refreshing...and you can see the women wearing their pounds of makeup clearly. And how can I forget sketchbags...lol. Danced in at least 7 different locations, but my favourite was in front of the dj booth where Jay and Feems were rocking it out. What really made my night, was a special surprise appearance from Anita. I don't remember her TA nick, but since the beginning of the year she hasn't partied much, and it was so alluring to see how well and healthy she was. For about 30 mins I had the biggest grin on my face lol. After some time...Lawler dropped Hugs N' Kisses yet again....and once again...I prounced around like a pixie. I believe he closed the set at 8:15? A little bit earlier than I expected but I was definately pleased. Went home...and finally got some sleep...for an hour...at which some portuguese parade stopped in front of my house. the windows in my bedroom were open...and they stood out there for 20 minutes playing band music!!! :whip: AAAAAAAAARG! lol...ing ridiculousness.
The music was just was pleasurable as it was for Vibe. For the little amount of time I saw Barrato, he was playing some good stuff...can't remember what exactly it was, but it was really refreshing to have someone open who wasn't Mark Oliver. Steve Lawler totally redeemed himself for Halloween. Can you say...E-L-E-C-T-R-O! Awesome tunes, alot I haven't heard, and then some others. The last track he played in the Guv really ticked me off. It was such a teaser, and I was waiting for the drop like I usually do so then I could go nuts, but it was just one massive buildup. Pete Heller - Simpler...I'll be ready for it next time, but it's not a tune I'd like to hear often. His skybar set was really sexy, just like last years. He played the dirtiest electro house and definately pleased the crowd. No complaints from me.
I'm glad I didn't decide to give up...my night became a success :) Thx to the TOTAS of course. Great seeing you all!
:clown:
Oh and here's a ridiculous convo I had with someone...and I was sober :wtf:
Me: Hi, I don't think we've met yet.
Her: Uh...actually we've met a couple of times.
Me: Oh...right right, I saw you yesterday. right?
Her: Yea that's me.
Me: Haha...For some reason I didn't think it was you. I thought you were someone that looked like you.
Her: WTF :nervous:
haha how embarrasing. |

guv was a complete show as expected. as good as the tunes may be you can only enjoy them so much. nathan's opening set was top-notch....after friday nights debacle, i had a new found appreciation for opener's and nathan showed just how much of a difference a solid opening set makes. excellent work.
lawlers set in the guv was awesome...much better than halloween. wasn't able to really get into it at all until being in the d'luxe lounge later on but my ears were having a grand ol' time.
skybar wasn't much better than guv as it was a complete show as well. tunes again were amazing but really tough to get into when being bodychecked every 20 seconds. but i have to say, the sunrise set definately lived up to it's hype. i had a blast.
lawler is the man and now i feel bad for knocking him out of my top 3...but let's just say he's worked his way back in there! super super happy with the tunes from saturday.
thanks again to shanny for the hospitality. sunday was the perfect ending to a great weekend. botched bocce ftw! |
