Why do I get the feeling people don't like anything with Tiesto's name on it and don't jugde the track but the producer. It's crap, because Tiesto made it.
I don't give a wo produced a track. If a track is good I enjoy it, doesn't care who made it. It even may be commercial, what's the problem with that. And there is one advantage, this track is played at many radio stations over here. I like it, because then I also can enjoy it at my work. |
Exactly, I refer back to a post Konijn made earlier - when he heard the track at a live event in Boston, when he didn't know what it was - it was pretty damn good...
Would that opinion have changed had he known it was a Tiesto production?
Seems like the post above (by Cherry barry) would make the answer to the question definitely yes! Why base a judgement on a track on a DJs reputation? Listen to the track first, and give reasons why that particular track is not working for you... not why over a whole career, the producer has failed to deliver... cos that really is a wonderful argument to why you don't like the new track.
I think its obviously a commerical driven track, slightly over-the-top, but then thats what the original melody lends itself to quite nicely. Tiesto's effort just pads it out with some nice beats & a trip down memory lane with the 643 elements.
Its not about to win the next Track Of The Year awards, but then was that its intention?
Also - its commercial yes, but is that Tiesto's fault? He was requested to make this remix, not the other way around. Credit to him for polishing up something quite nice, as opposed to something quite mediocre as per usual filmscore meets big artist type crossover. |

That is such a bull argument!
Firstly because it doesn't say ANYTHING about the quality of a track, and secondly because that happens with a lot of top DJ's, even though you are probably unaware of it.
A track doesn't get any better or worse with a different name on it. |

| look, I listen to stuff by top producers with high expectations (already knowing who produced it before listening), and guys like sander van doorn, randy katana, G&D, trentemoller, angello, jonas steur, etc. deliver everytime. Is it too much to ask for Tiesto to do the same? |

the point is that a POTC remix will be all that Tiesto needs to maintain his #2 ranking next year. which basically allows him to do the rest of the year and get away with it...is it too much to ask for higher standards in production by today's top DJ's? |

Maybe you should consider to stop having those expectations, you might see a whole different world ;)
And besides that, I wouldn't consider half of those guys top producers, and most of them have made tracks that weren't up to their standards, so bad example buddy...
If you keep having those expectations, all of those guys will disappoint you sooner or later. |
