I think that things are definitely slowing down in EDM. Trance used to be up at 140 bpm and just pounding, techno used to be up there with hard basslines and big cutting.
Now things are slowing down and people are merging different genre's while they play. I personally really enjoy how the fusion of genre's is making DJ's work harder to find the really great hidden gems to impress the crowd.
Not sure if you would consider it minimal or techno, but since I heard Tiesto drop it in Miami I've been stuck on "Julian Jeweil - Air Conditionne". "Oxia - Domino" is another fantastic tune.
I will have to say though that a full set of minimal or techno DJ's in a row is a bit much for me personally. But it's nice to see different DJ's trying to mix it up who wouldn't have normally played something like that years ago.
DJ Eterno
by far the minimal sound is inevitably going to play a major role in the EDM scene. From the basic techno, trance house etc, the scene is making its shift towards its sub-genres.
Minimal OWNS! matthew dear (audion), troy peirce and of course... Hawtin

yeah for real....its kinda boring.....

Very nice.
Anyone can come up with an ID?
P.S How can anyone in any sense call this soul-less. This track for instance is full of emotions. An Amazing harmonic and melodic tune.

I ing hate minimal. What Digweed is starting to spin, Sasha as well, what Trentemoller has moved to, what Burridge is spinning, and the that DJ Vibe spun in two of his May Dancefloor sets that I listened to three times, repeating "no, no, please, NO" before I SHIFT+Delete-ed them.
This genre is going to put the Bloor St. DVP overpass in big business again. I'm going on a cage climb next time I'm subjected to it.
k, I hope that was at least somewhat humorous. I'm not a genre-hater. To each their own. I just won't listen. I just hate when DJs I've liked start spinning I don't like. I was REALLY getting into Lee Burridge last fall, then....POOF. *bleep bleep bleep boop boop bleep*
And when has Lawler ever played a minimal track??
p.s. I haven't done drugs in almost 2 years.
i love burridge's new . some of it's pretty clicky/bleepy but he still drops bangin tracks.
this set for example is banging.. check it out if you haven't yet.
