this guy NEVER disappoints when he comes to sf. i got to the club late, about 12:05 and ferry had already taken over the decks for about 10 min. the first half of his set was very energetic anthem trance with some catchy breaks scatterered throughout. over the first 3 hours i heard a bunch of huuuge ID tracks with very distinctive beats--some breaks, some tech-psy, some acid-washed, i wish i could begin to describe them but nobody i asked around me recognized them either. the last 1.5 hours ferry played a bunch of his own hits as expected... punk was requested by someone and ferry obliged at the very end. he was very into his performance the whole night, you could tell he was having a blast surrounded by all the adoring fans. a great crowd too, while i roamed the dance floor i didn't run into any pushy/rude people, people would stop to apoligize when they bumped into you. i ran into and lost a bunch of tas throughout the night, diskodave and his crew, toolman and co, hung out with davet, ninetyninej and co, knight life 415, etc, etc, etc... i was pretty beat by ~3 and ended up sitting/toetapping a lot towards the end. i know there were a bunch more tas there, but i never got a chance to meet a lot of you. oh well, next time...!

OWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEE. My headd...
Oh GOD MY HEAD!!
thumpt thump thump.
Great set. The first 60-90 minutes was like anthemy bigtime. Lots of massive breakdowns. Reminded me of a set you'd hear in 2000.
What time did he play to? I was so exaustd that I could feel myself starting to get very sick so I just darted out of there at around 4:10am (4 hours and 15 minutes of Ferry was enough for me :p), went home, and passed out in about 10 seconds. :p
I shoulda drank water first. And a lot of it. OUCH. |

I have to second lex on Ferry never disappointing. It's almost cliche now for me to tell my friends before AND after his shows. There were definite anthems and melodic trance, but overall it was a bit harder than his usual set. I enjoyed it just as much. He must be working on a new album because I couldn't ID most of the tracks, except for some of the oldies. "Punk" to round out his set wasn't a surprise.(I think everyone was too tired by this point to chant along with the track, though) The crowd was loving it the entire night. I always wonder how Ferry manages to keep the energy up without bringing down the music to a crawl to build it up again. Maybe it's my untrained ears, but he's relentless, track after another.
As a sidenote, the crowd at RS was one of the rudest I've seen in some time. I know, I know, we should go there expecting some clueless people to be shoving their way around without any consideration for others. But last night was more than the ususal to which I'm accustomed at RS. This bothers me because Armin will be there next weekend and Armin always draws a packed house...
Hope everyone got home safely. Dave, it was good to see you there and enjoying yourself despite having a bad day. |

| haha it's funny how people's experiences differ from one to another, the crowd i encountered was pretty tame, then again i was only down in it probably 40-50% of the night. ferry played until ~4:30, it was reaaally loud towards the end, i'm surprised my ears weren't ringing when i left. dave, next time chug a bottle of vitamin water before passing out, especially after ~12 shots of jager :toothless |

Wow I got drunk! And holy Ferry rocked the house! Its been said before, but Ferry played alot of anthems and melodic trance, which I was in the mood for so it was great. I met up with Lex, DaveT and ninetyninej, we talked and chatted outside for a bit, which was a good break from the loud music in the club (for some reason louder than normal???). It could have been louder because I was so drunk. Anyway Ferry didnt disapoint for sure, the crowd was energized and just like lex said, there really werent that many pushy/shovey people that werent apologetic, which is very unusual. Where were you koolaid, upstairs? Most of the folks I danced next too on the main dance floor, toward the middle were really friendly and full of smiles, and most of them gave me my arm room to flail to the music.
I must say that I wasnt that excited to see Ferry cause Ive seen him before and especially at the love parade afterparty last year, where the other talent that was there took away from ferrys performance, imo. But last night changed my mind about any future shows from ferry, im definatly not going to miss him when he comes back! |

Last night was so much fun. Very nice crowd. People would make room for you to get by or dance... and people were actually DANCING! (*cough* Tiesto *cough*). He dropped so many songs from LEF. I went crazy when 'Beautiful' and 'I Love You' were played. I love it when a DJ can keep me wanting to dance for hours on-end, and Ferry always makes me feel like that.
"Fun" drive home to Davis after the show... I shoulda gotten some coffee but Gatorade helped a bit.
So now I'm all psyched for Armin but I don't know how he's gonna top this one :P |

Did I say OWE MY HEAD!?!?!?!
Actually, feel a bit better. Another shower and a nice homemade milkshake helped. :P
What an incredible night. Hoj vs Scott Carrelli was great. Led nicely into Ferry. Then Ferry dropped kicked me (and everyone else there) right in the teeth with some BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
Oi!

| BTW, there were flyers being handed out last night with a partial lineup of the LoveFest afterparty? Anyone have that list? I forget exactly who was on it and don't want to put any names out there that aren't on that list. :p |

I agree. The music seemed particularly louder last night for some reason. Again, I'm not a big audiophile so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the base was turned up too high last night. My ears are still ringing, more than a usual night of clubbing.

I was, in fact, downstairs. My mistake may have been that I camped out on the outer edge where, granted, there is more traffic. I did see lex(Rich, yes?) standing in the middle of the floor about 15 feet away and obviously he was fine there. So maybe it was where I was standing. Upstairs was much tamer, with more room to dance - but far from the action.
I agree with toolman about Ferry-Love Parade Afterparty. I'm a big fan of Ferry but at the LP Afterparty, I was too busy hearing B&J and A+B that by the time I made my way over to the main room, Ferry was already rocking it. By that time, I think I was just tired. And for whatever reason, the main room didn't do it for me.
See everyone at Armin. I know I'll eventually be bump into/introduced to other TAs than just pestering DaveT at these things. LOL |

That was an awesome hard epic set by Ferry last night. I also heard a lot of stuff I have never heard before. Would really love to get a hold of a recording of last night's set!
My ownly complaint was the drunk biyatch that spilled a glass of champagne on me. That's the problem with RS you end up with some of the tourist crowd.
p.s. I have one of the after party flyers if anyone wants me to scan it. Needless to say, I am not impressed by the lineup, unless something big is going to be added. I'm still voting for G&D somewhere for LoveFest. |

i thought ferry's lpsf sets were killer! i was also DEAD, more DEAD than i've ever been in my life by the time he was on at the afterparty. in fact i was sitting down for 90% of it. i had been goin NUTS to lee burridge the night before, got 4 hours of sleep and then danced my ASS off from 12pm to 3am (15 hours), which is the longest i've ever done anything lol. all i remember was ferry was dishing out all his biggest hits, many which were brand spankin new at the time. i personally thought he stole the show that night.
here's the flyer i got last night btw :tongue3

i dunno how but i'm hitting up this triple header also...
