Germany owed this win entirely to the actions of two men: Torsten Frings and José Pekerman. That's all there is to say about this match really.

you forgot lehman, he saved 2 out of 4. It all came down to the goalies and he did the difference.
Sinus
Alright, three men ;)

Torsten has been really impressing me so far. He's looking a lot better than that overrated pretty boy Ballack imo.

Lehmann had penalty taker notes

Keeper Jens Lehmann was handed notes before each kick to give him an edge in Germany's shootout win over Argentina.

Yeah old story, over here we knew it 24 hrs ago.

Following possibilities what's on the note:

- nothing, just a psycho trick to make the shooter inconfident

- notes from the scouts how each argentinia player shoots his penalties

- just good wishes from the coaches

you're right, he was great, but those were the only 2 saves i remember him making the entire tournament.. i've heard people before saying lehmann is the best player of the cup so far which is completely bat insane.

Yep he isn't the best keeper of the World Cup. Of course he has the potential to be it, but he don't get enough shots on the goal to show how good he is.

It's hard for keepers in teams with a good defense to proove how good they really are.

In 2002 only because of the bad german team (to be correct: VERY VERY bad) Kahn got the chance to proove his skills!
malek
its true lehman made only a few key stops during regular play time, but thats not entirly his fault.

he gave 3 goals all in all during the whole cup (not counting pk), thats very solid.

but at the end of the day, when it mattered the most, he made those saves in PK.

ricardos just a good shot stopper, his handling is shaky at times.

i thought the best keeper debate was settled a long time ago
