So why does everyone say that Macs and ableton are so stable when it seems to crash on him every so often? He needs to just go back to cdjs imo and leave ableton for the studio.
Phortastic
Macs ARE stable, believe me i know ;)

Dont know about ableton though. Ableton crashes... The mac doesnt. The mac OS X almost never crashes it are the applications that crash. Unlike windows where a program crash can hang ur whole OS... Although with XP that hardly happens either. Still OS X is way more stable.

If you think about the total number of gigs vs ups...ableton/mac are looking pretty good.

To back up Phortastic, I've been using my Mac now for about 2 years and I am very demanding at times on its resources and I can honestly say in 2 years it has crash somewhere between 3-6 times. Two years. It is the programs that will sometimes crash as he pointed out. That being said, I am sure it doesn't happen to the frequency where it is a problem, or else Ableton wouldn't exist because it would then clearly be too unstable for use. I don't know why in such a forward thinking niche of music people are so against djs evolving their craft.

Well I'm quite liking this mix, despite cries that it's boring and minimal and too "intelligent". I like the mixing, the edits (which were probably made by Sasha's Ableton Edit Team haha), the flow, and the tracks are nice. They aren't necessarily stand-out huge tracks, but they have subtle melodies, and fairly fat beats which would sound much larger if heard live. The concept is cool, albeit hard to implement, and the recovery from the Ableton crash was quick.

All in all I'll give it a sterling recommendation :)

Am I the only one who thinks its ing pathetic they are selling this CD for $25 a pop with such an obvious and ridiculous error? I am all for Ableton in the studio, but I don't think its ready to stand on its own yet. I for one will stick to the CDJ + Ableton combo, cuz you just never know as Sasha found out...but at the end of the day its still $25 x 10,000. ed up if you ask me, the least they could've done is edited the intro bit...

wouldn't that have ruined the purpose/intent behind the release in the first place?
Max Thomson
I guess, but then again why spend $25 on something that has a big, awful flaw in it? If I had spent money on it I would definately want a refund...I think this just proves Ableton is not ready to stand on its own. Like I said I'm all for it for layering and engineering mixes but for a live thing its clearly just not reliable enough...

The point of the CD is to attempt to recreate the live experience of that event, which includes for this particular set the 10 second flub.

I bought it for $25 and paid for shipping on top, and I have no problem with the crash being included.

Max Thomson
Well, I'm glad you're satisfied. I guess the crash does add a "unique" element to this lackluster compilation

I didn't say I thought the CD was amazing, but you take that gamble when you buy a live re-creation of an event before it's even happened, just as you do when you pay the cover charges for events. Some are good, some are bad, and some are mediocre.

I was commenting more on the original complaint about the inclusion of the ableton crash than the actual quality of the mix, though.
