To me if they had not included that, it would have defeated the purpose of the whole thing. Its raw, its jut what happened. Who knew it would up while recording the CD of all times. And you get the added bonus of the next 2 tracks after the up being mixed on CDJ ( which is hard to tell if you werent there)

The only thing I didnt like was how the tracklist was wrong and that it wasnt printed on the cd, it as just a sticker on the wrapper. So now I got this tracklist taped to the back of the cd. Its kinda ghetto.

I agree it would have defeated the purpose, and ups do happen, but I guess I just can't get beyond the unprofessional nature of this thing. I mean, Sasha and co are going to sit back and make $250,000 off of a really damaged recording. I suppose it makes it a bit of a collector's item, but to me that up defeats the purpose of a mix CD, especially one you pay $25 for! Another thing...when that track off the CDJ is mixed in, the levels seemed to be way off...I don't know the whole thing just seems pretty unprofessional to me. Just my 2c :o

It's not "unprofessional" at all. They recorded the live show as it happened, and they are releasing what they recorded. It's no different than the recordings they do for the other bands that they've recorded. If Instant Live recorded a band and the singer forgot some of the words, they're not going to go back and record the vocals for the purpose of the cd. This is the same thing.

If it was a studio mix, then yeah, I'd say take Sasha to the cleaners for making people (which BTW, he didn't force anyone to buy this CD) spend the money on a pile of crap.

But this is a LIVE CD. I for one know that Live CDs are probably going to have a few errors or mistakes in them. That's why I'm buying it. It's a representation of a DJ in their raw, truest form, mistakes and all. I would have been furious if I found out Sasha & Co. edited and messed with it to remove any blemishes. I think he's brilliant, but I've gathered that a lot of users on here aren't interested in intelligence or beauty. They just want the quick fixes or the most popular bangers out at that moment.

Oh...and this compilation was superb!:toothless

I must say i was really looking forward to listening to this being a fan of Sasha's "Airdrawndagger" and "Involver". However after listening to this avalon cd- i was sorely disappointed. Talk about monotonous. The whole thing sounded nearly the same :sadgreen:.

I'm not trying to take Sasha to the "cleaners" by any means...I just think it says a lot about Ableton and where the technology is at. People are SO quick to jump on the Ableton bandwagon and kind of lose perspective on what a DJ set should be. In my eyes, a set is about making choices in which records you play, and not jam packing your set with effects and loops and that really don't add anything...I mean does he honestly need to use the ping pong delay every 30 seconds? I use Ableton to engineer DJ mixes and produce, but I think this recording is PROOF that the technology simply is not there.

I've heard of Ableton going out on Sasha at least 5 times now, and I just think its ed up hes talking it up on the Apple website saying how he "puts his career on it" and how stable it is. Then, when he records the most important thing hes done in the past year, Ableton s up! In a way, I guess it is his fault a bit, I mean yeah he is an artist and doing the best he can with the latest technology and so much of it is really great, I just don't think the technology is ready. Couple that with the fact the music isn't really anything special (almost everything is from 2005!) and I think its safe to say Sasha should not walk away with a $250,000 check. Period.

5 times vs how many times CDJs/vinyl skip in a live environment.

Just last weekend Digweed's CD's were skipping at giant village. You dont hear about those ups though because people just figure its part of the game. I dont think the mac is any less stable than CDJs. CDJs, especially 1000mk2's are getting old and worn out, and are just as prone to ups as the mac is imo.

I just can't agree with you there...cd skips DO happen, but from working with Live and Pro Tools on PCs and Macs, theres no way I can say that they are just as stable as CDJs. I'm really not trying to hate on Sasha here, but I think an error like that on such a profitable CD is just unacceptable.

"Such a profitable CD" - It's not like Sasha is taking that much profit here. There were 10,000 CDs at $25 = $250,000. They have to pay licensing for the tracks, the Instant Live people take a cut, they pay for advertising, etc. Avalon may have even taken a percentage for all I know. In the end, I'm guessing Sasha was probably lucky to make $25,000, which isn't that much when you consider what they're paid for each gig.
