^^ I agree... leave Adelaide and Richmond the way they are. Turning them into two way streets is a very bad idea!

The fact that he answered it is an achievement. Most letters I send get no reply. Either that, or a form letter.

I dont agree with most of what he said. But props to him for the reply.

turning Richmond and Adelaide into two-way streets is the worst idea I've heard yet for that area of the city. Those streets are what allows traffic to actually FLOW between the east and west sides of the DT core.

Dear Jay,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here are the answers to
your questions

Since you are running for ward 20 I have a few area specific questions to ask,
1) How do you feel about part of the ward being designated as the
entertainment district?

- It was wrong to concentrate and create this zone to begin with. Area residents are now living wiith the consequences. Two things now need to happen to normaize this neiughbourhood. Streets need to be recognized as neighbourhood streets aand Adelaide and Richmond should be be looked at as possibilities as future two way streets. Sidewalks also need to widened. Secondly there needs to be a strategy to animate the commercial space in the daytime. A mix of other businesses would help keep the nightclubs in check.

entertainment district into neighborhood? boooooo

Should be the other way around, so we could all make "peter north" jokes.

most of the condos there now, were not there when the area became the entertainment district. So i dont think that most of those residents should have a leg to stand on.

But since this is canada and politcians rely on condo voters, they will win even though they shouldnt.

If i had my way, everyone would get the right to vote twice in municipal voting. One for where they live, and one for where they work. This way, politicians would have to consider both the needs of residents, AND the needs of employees/business in the area when seeking votes and passing laws.

and if you work from home all of a sudden you have double the amount of votes as your next door neighbour and conversly some one who does not live in my area is voting as an outsider.

...i dunno but maybe your were being funny about that one?!?!

no think about it... if you work at home you get two votes in the same town. But you arent getting more votes overall than the guy next door who works downtown because he gets one in that town, and one downtown.

It would be a way to make politicians accountable for more than just condo owners and their whiney complaints. If they had to take workers and employers into account, youd see a lot more fair policy and a lot more balance when it comes to dealing with businesses in a city.

doesn't the entertainment district include Bay Street though? You want that many voters that aren't clubbers?
