| I hate her not as a person, I don't know her personally so can't really hate her. I hate what she represents. She is the image used by corporate america to milk little brainless teens out of their and their parents' money by shoving down their throats a talentless yet physically attractive woman. They are doing it with everything from talentless pop artists such as britney to food, to movies, to games, etc. I find it disgusting but that is sadly how things work in today's world but I DO NOT have to nor will I get over it. |

This is pretty much the point i was making... i didn't think i would actually have to spell it out exactly in these terms for ppl to understand...obviously i could care less about her as a person...so what if she is pregnant again... good for her.. looks like she enjoys motherhood and thats great... its her name thats get plastered everywhere, related to everything that i hate.. i can't undertsand how ppl can buy into her JUST because its britney spears..or hilary duff.. or lindsey lohan... the list can go on...
not too mention.. when was the last time she even contributed ( if you can call it that)anything to the music industry? its been a while and yet still i have to see her name and pictures of her EVERYWHERE.. its getting rather boring and old in my opinion

If you place Britney in sequential order with people who have occupied that cultural position then the following becomes clear.
She is the child of Madonna. As is Xtina.
To place yourself on some high horse and denounce her misrepresents your relationship to culture. The last inequality barrier that existed between men and women was SEX. Men were allowed to be overtly sexual and women were not.
In order to defeat that barrier females needed a sexualized avatar to fight under. Madonna established the beachhead (Blondie built the ship), and Britney and Xtina lead the assault.
Only now having collectively lived the full spectrum of sexuality can women (and men) be free to choose the one that fits them best
