Britney does not exist in a vaccuum (though I exist in a void)
If you place Britney in sequential order with people who have occupied that cultural position then the following becomes clear.
She is the child of Madonna. As is Xtina.
To place yourself on some high horse and denounce her misrepresents your relationship to culture. The last inequality barrier that existed between men and women was SEX. Men were allowed to be overtly sexual and women were not.
In order to defeat that barrier females needed a sexualized avatar to fight under. Madonna established the beachhead (Blondie built the ship), and Britney and Xtina lead the assault.
Only now having collectively lived the full spectrum of sexuality can women (and men) be free to choose the one that fits them best |
I'm going to indirectly quote Steven Colbert when I say, "I for one am all for feminism and sexual equality. As long as the women feel the need to take it all off on camera to prove they're equal to men, who am I to complain? YOU GO GIRLS! If anything, we need even MORE feminism. We need more women like britney who believe they are sexually empowered because they are wearing next to nothing at all."
Oh, and lol @ the "I exist in a void" comment. It sounds like poor emo poetry. |

Coming on a kleenex and letting the flies do the rest does not constitute getting her preggers.
/though I would've done it too |

I don't get why everyone has such a hate on for her.
Is it because they're trying to compensate for the fact that they found someone hot who later put on a little weight?
She's just a person. she gets stressed and fat and pregnant and sloppy and bitchy and whatever just like the rest of us.
get over yourselves. |
Britney is in the public eye. I respect the fact that she was able to build such an empire, just as Jessica Simpson or Hilary Duff has. They have been successful, cudos to them...
When you are in the public eye, criticism is inevitable. Britney's appearance on her TV interview was disgusting. She was slouching, he make-up looked aweful, her butt was hanging out of her skirt and her chest was falling into her arms. There is a certain amount of personal negligence that is expected after giving birth and raising a family, but you think she could have cleaned herself up a little bit!
Yes, it appears as though the pictures in the magazine are going to be tasteful. And she looks much better as a brunette.. classier and more mature. I think this is something that will help her career and take away from the trashy reputation she has developed recently.
I honestly feel bad that her success is the cause of all the negativity... The more successful you are, the worse the public will treat you. |

What's really anoying about her is that just a few weeks ago she was crying on national TV about how she wanted the paparazzi to leave her alone and let her live her life in peace, blah blah blah... but now, she's posing on the cover just asking for more attention.
and i think she could have looked good and made herself look decent for that interview - she definielty has the people around her to make it happen yet. there must have been a reason for this. she's seeking pity from the public. and again, just fueling the attention on her even more.
also... just to add to how 'fake' those pictures are... her hair can't be real. i'm pretty sure preganant women are allowed/supposed to colour their hair when they are pregnant.
but the pictures are nice, the pregnant form is natural and beautiful and she looks good in them. but again, what bothers me about them is that they look too perfect. in real life a pregnant women would be VERY LUCKY to look like that... it's rare, and whether it is a skinny model or a pregnant lady on the cover, it just fuels misconceptions in our society about what we should all look like. so that's why it's important to realize that those pics are highly altered. |

but there are some people who seriously hate people like Britney. It's not unreasonable that I took her comment literally.

You're right.

OK, Britney needs to release that this posing will prolly bring on more attention (which she apparently doesn't want, at least from the paparazzi specifically).
But also, it needs to be realized that Britney isn't fleeing from attention in general. She's fleeing from the intrusive attention of the paparazzi. She has every right to desire the attention of seeing her pictures out there in this chosen manner (the prego photo shoot). She has every right to hate the other negative attention that it gets her though. I'd hate it myself too being constantly hounded! (but I'm sure I'd love the general recognition and "prestige" of being on a national cover)
The attention I'm sure shes complaining about receiving is the unasked for kind. That said, if she was being truly smart about it, she'd realize that one fuels the other. |

| ^ Yep. Can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't appear on covers of magazines and expect the razzis not to be after you. |

I don't think appearing in a magazine but then saying you don't want paparazzi harassing you in your family is having your cake and eating it too.
Willingly appearing in the media is completely different than being stalked by photographers 24/7. |

Yes, it's different, but you can't have one without the other. |
