i agree with you there, but peopel seem to forget that drugs come in two different types. chemically addictive and psychologically addictive. chemically addict drugs liek smack, ganja, nicctine and coke usually habour nasty side effects if you start taking them, and are the main ones littered along the "gateway drug" system your talking about, often involving peopel ing themselves up (even nicotine, you want a lung removing?) in a bad way. whereas with E or speed for example. your only addicted if you like it that much, maybe a bad way to word it. but if i wanted to stop taking E, i could do it easily, but its greta, so why not. if it started to me up like i heard it can do after about 2 years usage (well in most cases abuse) then i would stop and woudlnt get cold turkey or mood swings. thats why you can only be psycologically addicted to them drugs, its all in the mind, which is also what a lot of hoo-har about the dangers of these drugs is too. but life goes on, and if people call me a pill headi can stand safe in the knowledge theyre an uneducated wit. :) |

OHH believe me, i dont cosider it a gateway at all. if anything its a gateway simply because people try it and think: oh this aint so bad, lets keep going. you can get in the same trouble with dope as many other harder drugs in the US. often its not enforced the same, but i hope you catch my drift. certainly if the myths were debunked and the stimatization removed, it wouldnt be a gateway drug at all. i feel it could keep people from the harder , even booze or cigarettes - to a point tho! late/ |

If I can just add my $0.02.
I have lots of respect for people who don't do any drugs and at the same time are open-minded to those that do and don't criticize them. I can actually relate to both sides of this debate since I'm a casual drug user now (I've stopped doing it frequently) but there was a time when I thought very much the same way that a lot of you non-drug users feel.
I used to be disgusted with people who feel a need to do it at clubs so they can enjoy the music as well (for me, it made no sense). I mean I always just get high off the music and I don't need any external stimulant to make me feel any better (this at the same time I felt I needed a drink to loosen me up..now that I think about it, that was pretty hypocritical)
Besides, you are playing russian roulette everytime you pop a pill or snort something up your nose, so why would anyone want to do it? I just couldn't understand it.
One day I decided to give it a try anyways because I wanted to just experience it to see what it was like. Life was meant to be that way, to experience all there is that you can in the short time that you are here.
Anyways, dropped my first pill........SICKNESS!!!! :eek: The euphoria was just overwhelming! it was nothing like I had expected........sorry got a little carried away :D
Anyways back to the topic. I too feel that there is no need to flame each other on this topic. No one is 'better' than anyone else here if you do or don't do drugs. It's wrong to criticize someone simply because that's not your way of life.
As for me, experimentation has made me a more positive and open-minded person, not just with regards to drugs and but also to many other aspects of life itself.

| I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts. This thread got kind of tense in the middle, but all in all it has been very interesting to read everyones opinion. I guess when it boils down to it, the drugs won't ever go away, so we should have an open mind...both those who use and those who do not. I myself am so tempted to experiment, but have not thus far. Maybe one day I'll have a moment of weakness. But anyway drugs or no drugs I think its safe to say that we all enjoy the music and have a love for it. So with that said HAVE A NICE DAY~! :p |
