that was literally a wall!

YA but Germany's offence > England's .
England didn't have their owen and were so poor on their attempts and accuracy.
But Germany through out the tournment proved that they have a strong offence with very good finishers like Kolse who's goin to be the best scorer. And Italy stopped them.
So it's not fair to compare them with italy's .

Still i think portugal's going to the final.

Portugal to win. With all of their players back now, I think they will have a strong showing.

There are some doubts about whether Cristiano Ronaldo and Figo will be avaiable. Especially Figo, there is considerable chance he won't be fit.

If we win today it's the biggest achievement ever in our football's history (reaching a world cup final in foreign territory >>> reaching an euro cup final in national territory). Come on Portugal!

I think we have a good chance, sure France are a bit of favourites but with the winning mentality this team has, we always have a chance. However one thing plays against us: so far in the world cup there have been quite a few games with historical tradition and all of them have respected the tradition. France knocking out Brazil, 3rd time it happens. Italy knocking out Germany. France knocking out Spain (usual in euro cups). Portugal beating Holland and England (usual in the last 10 years).

Our historical record against France is absolutely terrible, we got knocked out in two semis by them in Euro cups (1984, 2000). They're undoubtly a particularly unconfortable team for us. The bad news for us is that if we overcome it and go through, our record against Italy is probably even worse. Every single Portugal-Italy game i remember we got our asses kicked badly. These are the worst two teams we could face.

You must defeat the best to become the best.

Stuff history, the team need to focus on making history instead of dwelling on the past.

I know, it's just that these 2 teams we have to beat in order to be world champions are the 2 most unconfortable teams for us we could possibly face. If we somehow manage to beat them I think the world title would be very deserved.

And sometimes you don't need to defeat the best in order to become the best. Look at the opponents of Brazil in 2002. Apart from England and Germany, all they had to beat were underdogs/upsets: Turkey (twice), Belgium, China, Costa Rica. I think our path to an eventual title is much harder this year: Italy, France, England, Holland, Mexico, with the exceptions being Angola and Iran.

Why don't I remember seeing the England versus Brazil match? That's my concept of perfect football game, yet it feels like I had never seen it.

hmmm...

(by the way, I know the game happened - I trust both you and Wikipedia).

Ronaldinho scoring from a long ass distance in a free kick, David Seaman looking like a muppet?

Ah, remember it now!

I always thought David Seaman should be a pirate, not a goalkeeper.
