Waterloo Ontario - The Review

a good friend of mine is moving to england in two weeks so we threw an impromptu going away party at his apt with out his permission (he got less and less mad at us as we fed him more and more tequilla)

So here is my review........ of the city, the food, and hte nightlife, and the police services

first of all..... build some freakin arterial roads.........it took way too long to get from the 401 to my buddies place.... endless sea of stoplights....... but theresa and anyother waterlooite i dont blame this on you..... i blame the city planners.

so we start out by drinking heavily and munching on some 5 dollar walkin special little ceasars pizzas.. very very tasty and delicious. we then procededed to a bar which i was told was one of the best in the loo.... it was called starlight..... and it blew chuncks. for a saturday night at 11 pm i assumed it would be happenin. 10 people and ty music isnt happenin by any stretch. i was forced to stay there till close (the girls i was with wanted to dance to "hip hop") i drowned out the ringing in my ears iwth more booze.

my main complaint of the night as i cant blame my nightlife experience on the bad taste in bars on the city, just the people that told me it was good, was the after bar eats. first i was promised quesadillas, which sounded so scrumptious in my drunken stupor, but alas this place was not open during the summer. then i was promised pizza, but it too was not open, finaly pita pit, which i in turn found was a 45 minute walk from the bar!!!

Whatever happened to street meat, poutine and all nite breakfast? hell even my hometown of st thomas ontario has these things!!!

i urge all waterlooians to contact their local city councilor and protest these deplorable conditions.

finally after returnign to my friends apt building. we apparently werent done partying for the night. so we mixed up a few jugs of very strong rum and cola and proceded outside to drink on the lawn and eventually enjoy the sunrise. According to officer thompson of the waterloo police dept, this is not an advisable practice in this community. we were told at 6 30 am or so that if we did not move the partay inside we would be charged with drinking in public and thrown in the drunk tank (a prospect i found mildly amusing and asked what the breakfast menu was like at the station) i was then dragged inside the building by three of my friends.

moral of the story.....

my checklist for improvement of waterloo includes

1 - less stoplights
2 - close down the starlight nighclub (it sucks)
3 - enforce restaurants to stay open till 4 and serve sweet and sour chicken balls, poutine, pizza, quesadillas and pitas
4 - instruct the waterloo police to allow drunken sunrise watching on apt building front lawns

and the one glowing big checkmark for waterloo.....

the girls there are GORGEOUS>>>> i can only remember seeing like one or two mingas in the whole town!!!

so waterloo scores 5 / 10 for my saturday night experience but gains 1324131243 /10 for the ratio of hotness to not so hotness.

-to have colonelcrisp review your town, provide return airfare, a case of labatt 50, a bottle of cuervo gold and a pep n cheese pizza

LOL!

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE GONNA BE HERE?!?!?
Now, *I* would have shown you a good time.

First of all, whoever said Starlight is the best club in town is on so much crack it isn't even funny.

Second of all, the best drunk food restaurant is Mel's Diner. Stays open all night long, and provides the best bad food ever.

As for the traffic lights? Well, I am assuming you probably took a daft as hell way to your destination. You can easily zoom around the city if you take highway 85 to where you need to be.

P.S. WOOT on the review of where I live :D

P.P.S. WOOT for Waterloo ladies representin' hotness :D
colonelcrisp
ok i promise next time i come up, ill msg you first and you can show me the real loo. i didnt know about this hwy 85 trick, but your town has too many traffic lights. no town needs that many controled intersections. im assuming mel's diner isnt on king st. cause i assure you the only fun part of that street on sat night was the homeless guy with the guitar who was playing requests (for two dollars he let me sing whitesnake - here i come again on my own, while he played it...... totally awesome)

This is the most suspicious thread i've ever read!

Clearly you should have had this little bash at Le Bistro. I mean they've devoted almost a 6th of the main floor to a dance area.

But it's the little things that make it stand out, like the one neon corona light behind the bar that make it stand out as a jewel in the hull strip crown that harkens back to the glory days of City Club.
colonelcrisp
suspicious?

im going to have to make a return outing to waterloo soon apparently as clearly my friends have led me astray when it comes to fun bars.......

You and me dude!

And we will have a fricken great time :D

I will take you to the TOTA gathering on a Friday night where we can hear some Trance... it'll be hardcore :)

Subey, you live in Waterloo?

And Mel's Diner is not on King, it's on University.

The homeless guy is fricken awesome. He sits there every Friday and Saturday and gets all of the drunken Uni students to jam with him. Like... full blown belting it out on the street. One of these nights, I will bring my camera out, and record it :) +1 to him :D

I'm a regular at Mike's. About as generic as a pub can get but more my scene than Roosters

That's what you get for hanging with people that clearly don't know how to party.... Waterloo kicks ass!
1 - Hwy 8, 7, 85... use these roads and you can fly around K-W in no time. Additionally, the city planners have instituted a policy of building traffic circles rather then lights for new development.

2 - Starlight the best club... whoever told you that is clearly an idiot. Rev/Purple Room is the only way to go in the Loo.... unless you're looking to get some couger then you want the Flying Dog.

3 - MEL'S DINER FOR THE WIN!!!! Additionally, there are a great many pita places and various other food outlets open into the wee hours.... next time head towards the Universities.... that's were everything is, Uptown sucks ass!

4 - Rear lawns not front lawns.... what are you some kind of amature? If the building has no back yard then you can use mine.
