spot on mate!
Seems like everyone jumped on the bandwagon there and I'm willing to bet on the fact most of the people who started these threads didn't even watch the game, if any during the whole cup!
Losers! |

yeah yeah been back in France since january 2005.
Everyone is destroyed really. But still a little proud that they came in second, but who cares about that really? :(
Right now everyone is obviously speculating on what was said by the italo boi while at the same time tons are saying it is totally unprofessional for a player who is played that much to act that way.
There's also talks of stopping some ad campaigns that featured him, but technically that means a huge financial investement lost by the companies so it's all up in the air.
Raymond Domenech the selector ironically said : " Wow I wasn't aware that the Fifa now used video monitoring to arbitrate during matches" :stongue: .
Either you use it with everyone or you never use it, cause as many are aware there were tons of other very fishy situations during the cup were video monitoring would have come in handy, but who knows ... maybe the referees were paid off :p
Anyhow the day right after on the game, it went from glorifying Zidane, to completely destroying him and showing his not so goody goody past. Media swings whichever way stirs up the most things.
I think Zidane screwed it up for France winning the cup and so do a lot of people. |

i agree again.
i said in another post
| quote: | This is the type of behavior you expect from a young overly emotional player, not a veteran about to retire. Show some class, what sort of example/role model is he for kids who aspire to play soccer?
How can you have respect for someone who after the game says he'd do it over again? He sounds like egomaniac who only thinks of himself. What an embarrassment to his country. I've seen other sports professionals who just step up to the plate and say "I was wrong", "I made a bad decision that cost my team a win", "I'd like to apologize to the fans who had to witness my bad sportsmanship".
People have a great capacity for forgiveness, when you humble yourself before them and don't try to defend bad behavior. |
i don't buy into what did the italian player say to him. thats just an excuse to take the blame away from himself. as far as the media goes, it was ok with him when they glorified him. he brought this on himself so he can take the good with the bad. |

At this stage I am just waiting for his press conference that should take place in the upcoming days. Apparently it'll be a bbc exclusive thing. ( It should be on wednesday ... not sure if it's this week or the next ... a little confused there ).
I must see it. |

he strikes me as one of these celebrity sports athletes who thinks the world revolves around them. this is a reality check for him. hello your playing for your team and your country, its not all about you.
as far as the press conference, i wouldn't put too much meaning in what he says. i'm sure his handlers have crafted something for him to say for damage control. his apology should have come right after the game not a few days later. he might as well have his lawyer issue a statement. |

It's a very delicate issue, let it cool off a bit and then make a statement or let it blow up till you come up and shut everyone up?!
I understand what you mean about him being cocky ( hey the is the emblem of France :P ) with this situation but he has always been a very discreet player outside of the field no? |

Zidane.
...just kidding. Relax, the fad'll be over by later today...at least the one of dedicated threads...random mentions will still abound. :p
Anyways, whatever was said still doesn't matter (even if it was about his mother, you honestly think that's the first 'yo momma' taunt he's heard?). I still can't believe I actually saw that. I just can't picture any other athlete who's recently retired as one of the all-time greats doing that in his final game (Jerome Bettis takes off his helmet & clocks Matt Hasslebeck with it?!?!).
It probably didn't affect the actual outcome of the game much. PK's are almost always successful anyways, so if he makes 95% compared to someone else's 90%, it's still pretty random, but the fact that he got kicked out makes the loss just seem that much worse, since he wasn't even included in that toss-up. Oh well. We're only supposed to care about one football anyways. :toothless |
