| It still doesn't make any sense why he was awarded this MVP like award, I thought only the player of the winning team would be honored. Could this be a simpathy vote from Fifa knowing that fact that he was going to retire? |

no. ronaldo got the award in 98 and france won that year. |

he wasn't voted man of the match (that went to Pirlo), but best player of the tournament - note that the voting for that, for some stupid reason ended at half-time of the final. now i've read FIFA will study the situation and might take away the award from him. |

| The voting needs to be done at the end of the match, Thats gonna have to be something they will have to do in the next World Cup which will be in Africa, Cause really, Its discraceful to be awarding such a thing to a player of a losing team. That sets a bad example for all of the younger people out there that looks up to the sport. Anyways, This World Cup may not be as good as the previous since there were many issues with the referees as well. |

mvp means "most valuable player" and is decided based on performance only
the question asked when deciding on an MVP is "if you take the MVP out of a team, would the team be just as good?"
if the answer is yes, then the player isn't worthy of it
at least that's how I look at it |

can u guys get over this?? zidane headbutted him for a reason, yes he apologizes because he has to. he does regret it and in his interview yesterday on Canal+ (french tv) he said that "he's a man first before anything else" and plus this is the 14th time he's gotten kicked out of international games for such behaviors. i think he deserves to win the golden ball. he played well and i don't think its a sympathy move. FIFA is getting such tremendous pressure from people all over the world that they r starting to buckle under pressure. we'll just have to wait it out and see what happens
either way im still buying a zidane jersey when i go to france on sunday |
