Okay then, let's see. If the tracklist does turn out to be a good, comprehensive list of real trance classics then we'll all shut the up. However, if it turns out to be shallow, label-whoring and totally unrepresentative, you lot can eat your words.

+1

If this has a pile of rare classics on it, then I'll be buying it. If a compilation is good, I dont care who made it.

But something tells me this will be . A couple of well known classics chucked in with ATRC and other general cheesiness that the record labels call 'classic' but the public call 'rubbish'.

Yeah but the sad part is this asot public thinks ATRC is a classic :)

I don't know why folks are thinking this is going to be just label whoring from Armada.

There'll be plenty of Black Hole on there as well. ;)
erdega
where is the tracklist :whip: and some of you need to get a label as professional whiners for god sakes :nervous:

How would you define the term 'classic'?

I'm asking because I'm not sure if your post is based on the release date of the track or its quality.

classics are all relative

'ASOT classics' may seem like nothing compared to widely considered 'trance classics' but then the same could probably be said for these trance classics when pitched up against 'edm classics', and so on. i'm guessing the classics will mostly be within the ASOT generation and have a number of tunes from 2003 and 2004, which is fine by me providing it doesn't falsely advertise itself as "the definitive history of trance" or something pretentious like that

it's pretty easy to estimate what the tl will be like. similar to the 250 episode 'classic' hour:

01. Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin van Buuren Remix)
02. Chicane - Saltwater
03. Ridgewalkers Feat. El - Find (Andy Moor Remix)
04. Solarstone - Solarcoaster (Midway Remix)
05. Yahel - Voyage
06. Rank 1 - Airwave
07. Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel (E-Werk Club Mix)
08. Chicane Feat. Maire Brennan - Autumn Tactics (Thrillseekers Remix)
09. Rapid Eye - Circa Forever (R.E. Remix)
10. Above & Beyond Pres. Oceanlab - Satellite
11. Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000
12. Delerium Feat. Sarah McLachlan - Silence (Tiesto's "In Search Of Sunrise" Remix)
13. Moogwai - Viola (Armin van Buuren Remix)
14. Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea Remix)
15. Tiesto - Suburban Train
16. Sonic Inc - The Taste Of Summer (Fire & Ice Vital Remix)
17. The Quest - C-Sharp
18. Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Three N One Remix)
19. Marco V - Simulated
20. Jonas Steur - Castamara
21. Veracocha - Carte Blance
22. Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound Of Goodbye (Rising Star Mix)

some people classify these as classics. some don't. quit pretending like your opinion is the standard.

no point bashing the compilation until a tracklisting comes out. it really could go either way. either it will be pretty good or just a re-hash of tunes from the past year or so to make a quick buck.

i'm hoping it will contain older, classic, great tracks that you can't find anymore in CD quality, as well as the usual ASOT-quality tracks to please the Armin-fan boys.

IMO it cant be labeled classic in terms of quality ;)
There are quite alot other tracks from 2003 which are way more classic than ATRC. Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown or Ride from Chable & Bonnici comes to mind for me.

a cd is too precise.

for you perhaps, but alot of people disagree, including me. i think modern music should sound precise. vinyl just makes everything sound primitive and old. just my opinion of course, and im aware that this is totally off the topic lol

It's a more interesting topic than what'll appear on this comp, I wager. Hell, I've never listened to the show, and I can guess a few certainties:

Armin van Buuren - Shivers
Armin van Buuren - Burned With Desire
Perpetuous Dreamer - Future Funland

That means the track is not a classic for you personally.
I think a track that is remembered and recognized by a large amount of people serveral years after the release date, can definitely be considered a classic.
