VIVA night club vs. Guvernment Main Room

| So I really want to go check out 4strings spin at VIVA. I went on their website (club's) and it looks pretty sweet, but all the stuff there has not been updated for a while. So I was just wondering how does VIVA compare to the main room of the GUV (size, special effects vise (lasers etc.) and the crowd). Any input is appreciated. |

SIZE: I think Viva is a bit smaller, but not by much.
SPECIAL EFFECTS: Guv, by far. Viva has lasers and lights, but Guv outdoes it easily. But that's not to say Viva's lighting is bad, it's just not as good. Also, they don't have a nitrous blaster like Guv does.
CROWD: Viva has a much bigger Asian crowd percentage. Guv is always a lot more packed though. Viva has this incomprehensible property that right in front of the DJ boooth there is a lot more space than there is in the back of the club. Guv is a sardine can everywhere.
OVERALL: I like Viva. Not as much as Guv (on its good nights, Guv on bad nights is a horror), bu from time to time I really enjoy going to events at Viva to break out of the mold of spending every Sat at Guv. It's a nice change for once in a while. I suggest you go at least check it out.
P.S. The club is really hard to find unless you know exactly where it is. |

the lasers at viva are not that great, sound is good. size of viva is about half hte size of hte main room. the crowd is prett sketchy, a lot of older ppl (30+). most TAs like the club because there's lots of room to dance. |

Definatly worth checking out. I was there only once for Andy Moor and I liked the venue.
It's a decent size and I didn't find it too packed. Space to dance and move around.
It's an all ages club (or maybe 16+?), so there are a fair number of younger people there...a LOT of young Asians and the Asian sketch factor is pretty high (however Guv is high too). The area in the back is the "VIP" area though...people 19+ can hang out back there and drink (no drinks allowed on the floor except water)...and I kind of like that policy.
Sound system is decent. Lights are good...they have lots of good lasers. Guv is pretty phenomenal though. And ya...no cannons.
They have a big outdoor smoking area too to cool off.
I'd say it's worth going to see 4 Strings for sure.
A little hard to find though. I suggest you Google Map it. |

Viva's good to go to on big-name nights when lots of TAs are there. If you go on a 'normal' night, be prepared for a 95% asian crowd that isn't quite as sketchy as guv. Most of the club-goers stand around the dancefloor rather than on it if they aren't dancing (thumbs up), which creates this weird effect where there's lots of room on the dance floor, and it's packed around the edges and in the back. Front and Center is always empty unless it's packed with TAs.
Security is nice, staff are OK, crowd is a bit sketch but they leave you alone, oh, and it's LOUD. Although not as crisp a system, the sound it Viva is usually louder than Guv. The lighting is decent, but not even close to Guv. They have a multi-colour laser, some strobe lights and such. Usually it's just really dark with laser and strobe flashes. If you're stoned, the laser will keep your attention for a while :P
In short, go for 4-Strings. You'll have a good time and there'll be lots of TAs.
I like Viva. Viva is the only club that brings in amazing trance DJs that don't have the marketing that guys like Armin and Tiesto have. Matt Darey, Andy Moor, Cosmic Gate, M.I.K.E., etc. etc. You won't see these guys at the Guv these days. |

so this is the the sketchy scene everyone refering to. I had no idea about this asian thing before and it actually reminded me what i saw in Guv. At least they don't seem to be pushy from what i can tell.

Sketchy doesn't even begin to describe the vibe. Unless there are A LOT of TA's, it sucks hardcore. Don't plan to go to be with the people and enjoy the atmosphere, because... well, it just plain sucks.
Been there about 3 times, and I can honestly say I don't think I will ever go back. |

yea, front and cetnre, strangely enough, there is ALWASY room to dance, unless us TAs are taking up that space!
I love the whole VIP 19+ raised bar area, its great! So good to sit in there and chill with your friends and other TAs... one of my favourite thikngs about Viva.
For me, I find the Viva azns to be less sketchy than guvs, and they like never bother you, it rare that its ever retardly pack in Viva and youre bumping into ppl.
Check it out, Viva is a great time. |
