I like supersaws, just not the single note, gated, portamento super saws. I like the melodic 16th fast ones and airy chord ones.

I used "supersaw"" as a metaphore for inexperienced with the past, the roots. So you entirely missed the point of my reply. No problem.

Have a nice weekend,

I think it has had the longest era of all synth sounds in trance music as long as ican remember

Not a chance! TB-303 has the longest reign. Not only that but it still sounds great. Just like a supersaw. Just like a violin. If you do not find the sound interesting then it is a failure on the part of the musician to do anything interesting with that sound.

I defy anyone to say that the 303 sounds old after listening to some of the insanity on Hallucinogen's Lone Deranger. Its INSANE.

Uhm, well, i dont know how old you are:D, but the trance i grew up with, didnt often have the 303 on the main riff, maybe psy-trance, but thats a whole nother thing in my world. In trance music, the 303 has mostly been a sublead, or some arps in the background. And if the 303 in used in the main riff, i think it had its era in "Acid" music in the late 90īs, right? 303, old? no, as i said, nothing in music gets ols, it just a matter on how and where you use youre sounds, but i find it hard the se a pure uplifting trance tune haveing a TB 303 in the main riff today, but i could be cool if you twak the hell out of it and make a cool sound :P.

As i mentioned before, to make a really good track on a new sound, you need a killer riff in the track, that makes something of just that uniqe sound. But there is one tune that has both of two worlds this year, a nice sweeping supersaw, And a verry nice sound for the main keys, and thats from swedish Selu Vibra - Stargeizing.

But i stick to main supersaw riffs and i keep the main keys simple. I dont wanna spend to many hours on one single sound, cant see the meaning of it. I think i will come natrual in time, when i know all my stuff from inside to outide.

For anyone trying to track down the track BB mentioned it's Marmion - Schoneberg, not marmiom;)

I know it's down to personal preference but I definately recommend the Marmion Remix.

Then you've got 'Effective Force - Illuminate the Planet (World In Order Mix)', 'Effective Force - Diamond Bullet' and obviously 'Humate - Love Stimulation (Paul Van Dyk's Love Club Mix)'.

More to come...

"what track is microglobe performing? its sick"

That one and the one one played at the end credits are the ones I really want. Oh and there's the one at the very start, the 'midnight in europe' before the Dr. Motte interview, the one straight after the Paul Browse interview, the one before the PvD interview... I want them all!

Actually I think the one before the Dr. Motte interview is '030 - Midnight In Europe'. Good luck tracking that down!

Dont go there again :P, ive had it with supersaw discussions! Im a supersaw freak my self, but i dont care anymore what people say about it!

Some say its old, and some say its to modern! Its sad to see that EDM has become a comercial contest on who is going to make the next historic sound! But what sound i trance music can compete with the supersaw? I think it has had the longest era of all synth sounds in trance music as long as ican remember, and i dont think it will die just becuse the big comersial labels like to be "new" all the time. But you can see that eaven them fall back to the "old" sounds someimes when thay relise that this is what the people like to hear!

In my opionion is that the only way you can make a massive tune without a really good synth riff, is if you have a real killer melody. And that is a chanllange i will let time deside if i will make one, untill then i will continue to play with my supersaws in my productions! BUT THIS IS JUST ME, cus im a supersaw freak! :P

The day someone claims that the electric guitar is to old for having in a rock song, That day that someone claims that deep basses is to old for drum nībass and hip hop, that day that someone claims that a piano is to old to have in a classical composion, that day its to old to have a supersaw in a trance track, and the list goes on...

That day is the end of music in my opinion. Nothing in music can ever be old, just the tune you have made and will take to your grave will get old with you.

Of course, the music evolves every day, but i can promise you that after seeing his video, will open a new era of trance music for some people, and it all will go back to where we started off. Its like this with everything.

Shoure you can spend hours after hours trying to make a unique sound, but if its not pleasing peoples ears and senses, whats the point?

This video is a good proof on what i all was about in the beginning, itwas about feelings, and making people dance and thats how i think, not what sounds you used.

Cheers
C

What a fantastic spot on post!

Synchronicity: thanks for correcting me on Marmion (typo) ;) and thanks for listing the other tracks too: tracking them now.

I used to own a double CD compilation ('93-'94 -probably vol 1 or 2) called "trance europe express".

The track "midnight in europe" (cannot recall if that's the exact title) was it's opening track.

I wonder if Nu-NRG plays like Mijk van Dijk
