Whatever, not everyone likes the same stuff. I happen to have been a fan of Nelly F for 6 years...I don't really care if you like her or not. |
doesn't it piss you off that she changed her sound completely then? her tunes used to be quite catchy folk pop and now shes like every other rnb/pop tart out there. |

This album may be what she wanted to do, regardless if its more poppy than her other . If an artists changes their style, that does not automatically mean they're selling out. |

At first I was thinking the same thing and then I heard her album and it wasn't all the same. A few of the tracks like the ones I just mentioned were a bit similar, why I mentioned them. But she's got quite a variety in the tracks, some dance pop, some dancey hip hop, some folky pop stuff. Can't base it off her singles. She's a lot like Moby, in that each CD has a different sound and tries to experiment. You can't judge them based just on their singles. Hence this why it is in the more R&B/Hip-Hop and pop direction, her next album might be different. Timbaland had a hand in her latest album, but she still works with him on her sound the way she wants it to sound. She doesn't just have someone make it for her, she's actively involved in the making and writing of her music. That's why she's more talented than alot of the pop/r&b tarts out there, even if she sounds like them at points in her new album. |

no its just that when she came out she didnt sound like most of the mainstream stuff out at the time. her second album was even less generic (which is probably why it bombed). and with her newer sound she just seems to be leeching off the mainstream in an attempt to make a comeback. |

Thats understandable but her new sound isn't just leeching off the mainstream. Rather it's a new step forward in pop. She's always been pop, first and foremost. She even has admitted to making fun, quirky pop music. It's not super sophisticated or deep music. Sure some of her stuff is, and esp the stuff on her second album, but she's always loved hip hop, pop and dance music and this is what this third album is about, and what the whole "Promiscuous" song is all about. She's musically promiscuous, meaning she likes a variety of music and likes to create fusions of different stuff in her music. The hip hop and dance beats have been prevalent since the first album, she just toned down the folkiness of the other albums, esp from the second. Like I was saying in my other post, not everything in her album is the same style as the single, but the dance vibe is carried throughout (except with the slower singles like "In God's Hands") |

I know shes always been 'pop'. but it was almost always decent, listenable pop. now its just shallow mainstream crap. I havent bought any of her records but Im pretty sure she never made any rnb/hip hop tunes before this (correct me if Im wrong). |

Maneater is one of the worst tracks I've heard all year. It really does piss me off just to hear it. |

I feel bad for saying this but I actually think Nelly Furtado is hawt :( well I haven't seen her without all the huge amounts of makeup she always wears but...
her tunes are totally crap. Never heard a single listen worthy tune from her. Gonna download her music videos and just edit out the song and insert a random Juno Reactor tune. that would be ace! |
