Not to mention how absolutely awful his live sets have been in recent years.

Knowing that, I don't know why fanboys of his earlier works are proclaiming TBU as Ima 2006.

From what I can tell the sound of TBU is similar to the sounds found in many of tracks produced by Hybrid (i.e. epic orchestral pieces with lost of strings and some funky breakdowns and beats mixed in here or there). At least that's what I'm getting from the sneak peak video. For me that's not a problem. I happen to be a fan of the electronic/neo-classical wave that's being expressed through film scores by many of today's top scoreres and producers. BT is music for the eclectic sound junkie. I often feel like I'm one of the few people who can listen to each of his 4 major studio albums and get the same amount of joy from each one despite their radically different sounds. But a lot of people out there are only able to listen to one or two of his albums and enjoy them because of the nature of his style (jumping from one genre to another between releases).

Personally I like producers/artists who are ballsy and take chances by constantly changing and shifting their style (TCM, Fluke etc...) and will probably enjoy TBU because of the amount of attention to detail I know BT will have put into it and because I just plain like the whole classical/electronic genre. But as I stated above, what gets me are the fanboys who think this will be Ima 2006. It most certainly won't be. At least that's what I gather from the snippets of sounds in the preview.

People don't dislike MISL and ET just because they aren't styles they can enjoy. My tastes are open enough to appreciate every genre BT has covered. However, Ima and ESCM were personal albums where BT did what he wanted. On his last two albums, he's been trying to imitate existing genres and conventions rather than pursuing his own style. We are all hoping that TBU is BT saying " this" to cracking existing styles purely to test himself and goes back to making his own music with his own rules.

+1 I saw him last month and didn't really enjoy it.

I actually did like ET, it was neat to see the rock influences at times, but I'm still skeptical about this one.

I've seen BT perform live and he blew me out of the water.

Really looking forward to this cd and seeing him at the club on August 25th.

FACTS:
shortest track is 11 minutes
about the studio break-in: the collaboration with peter gabriel was never recovered (do not be confused with "The Tower That Ate People" which is another peter gabriel/bt collaboration which was released)
artists are famous animators and cal art students
circuit bended furbies/children's toys are in this record
not your typical electronic music album
a full-on live 5.1 show will follow (bt encourages that you lie down on the floor and see the multi-projection visuals during the show)
a track on the record was produced/mixed completely in csound
