and whats the point of bringing that up in a thread about his upcoming ARTIST album?

I agree. Some great producers should just stop with DJing all together. Why is there always a need these days to do both great.

You answered your own question.

People don't dislike MISL and ET just because they aren't styles they can enjoy. My tastes are open enough to appreciate every genre BT has covered. However, Ima and ESCM were personal albums where BT did what he wanted.

Right on.
No one is saying This Binary Universe is going to be "Ima 2006", I think all his long time "fan-boys" are appreciating his return to experimental work more than anything else.

However, I wouldn't say BT tried to immitate anything, ever. Especially not with MISL. It was special on its own. (Mind you that Japanese/UK release which had Ride, Fibonacci Sequence, The Hip Hop Phenomenon and Sunblind, although this was a bonus track)... Timeless.

However with ET, it was nothing short of a masterful production piece but I did feel as if he was trying to perfect his talent as a producer (working on many collaborations for the album) as opposed to breaking new grounds with his music, speaking about 'personal' inspiration and drive. And it surely was the path taken to bring forth This Binary Universe, so I will respect ET. I didn't enjoy it as much as Ima but it deserves recognition.

Okay now,
It bothers me to see some of you saying that it is wrong for us to jump to conclusions over this particular album. I have to ask you a question now, do you know anything about BT? honestly? Because if you've been following his progressions since ET, mainly through his film scores, you would understand our enthusiasm over TBU.

As for his sets, personally I have a blast at his shows. And to know he's remixing his tracks live instead of beat matching, it impresses me even more.

Just wait guys.
I feel very fortunate I saw the DVD in Aspen with BT.. I went into the venue expecting something diffrent, but it was literally, out of this world.
And it def. needs to be heard on 5.1!

The only gauge I have with regard to the quality of his new tracks are his recent live sets.
