PS. i hope someone goes and sees how many people show up, take a nice big group picture and post it over here and all over the internet so i may shake my head in sadness that people would donate to charity in such a lame way

When I first heard about this, I thought it would cool to eat w/ Tiesto. For free anyway.

I posted a message on my MSN if anyone wanted to donate money for an AIDS charity.

We should do that, and send one person. It shouldn't be that difficult to get $1,800 w/ so many people on these boards.

I agree that some of the comments here are lame, but I needed to Laugh! I come onto TA today, first thing I read is a donation for 1800 (without a tax receipt) to have dinner with Tiesto.

TA has had many wikkid meet ups with DJ's, if I remember correctly, Ferry Corsten, Scumfrog, Gabriel & Dresden (??) ect and that's just like this, to bad we can't just have one like that for FREE :)

Anyways, I have absolutly no pocket change, even for 7 dollar red bulls at some clubs so I will not be able to make it. Sounds like it would be fun and whomever does go, take 1800$ worth of pics!

and there MUST be a reason why we are all ragging on "a superstar/the best" dj...the fact that u can cash in on eating with someone is rather degrading. especially at a price like that

Not really, Warren Buffet does a charity lunch with the highest bidder and 8 of his friends every year and this year the bid went up to over $600,000 us.

But ppl like Buffet, Gates etc have actually dedicated a lot of their time towards helping charitable organizations which is why I find this concept of Tiesto suddenly coming in ridiculous. I have the utmost respect for tiesto in what he has done for dance music but I dont consider him a good spokesman for a cause like Aids.

why even send someone?

i personally donate to charities all the time without bothering for a reciept. and if u care enough, u shouldnt expect something back for a donation.....this lunch with the almighty is total BS.

1800 for a dinner with tiesto is overboard even if its for a good cause because he's just a dj and not a rockstar.
i mean there are much better ways to get people to donate to a charity. Maybe ask everyone to donate 5 bucks on his website? Cosmic Fur do you actually think that true edm fans would show up to this?

**the only person I would pay that much to have dinner with would be Madonna!!!

I Madonna!

What's wrong w/ excepecting something back for a donation?
If they are available to an invidiual I see nothing wrong with that.

I personally think those hopital lottery giveaways are a great thing. WIN-WIN situation for everyone. I guarantee you that people don't just donate money for no reason. Sure its for an amazing cause, but most people don't have the excess disposable income to just donate.
If there is a possibility to get something in return (Tiesto, a free BBQ, etc.) then they are definitely more willing to donate. You can donate $1,000 whenever you want, or you can donate $1,000 and a chance to win something. Usually the individual is going to accept the latter. It's just human nature. I'm not saying that is a good trait that we have, that is just how we are.

I donate money here and there and expect nothing in return, but if your donating that kind of money (ie. $1,800) it doesn't hurt.

How about you read up on Dance4Life and understand that the focus of all this goes beyond Tiesto being there. Tiesto isn't the one charging for the event, he was simply appointed ambassador of the charity given his obvious tie-in with youth & dance.

Think about it, you guys are slagging a charity fundraiser simply because Tiesto is connected with it. If that's not immature, I don't know what is.
