I also can't understand, what is the problem with generic trance at all?

You'd think the answer would be quite obvious.

Dude, I personally like your style particularly the older stuff. You have your own style and as you say you have a lot to learn which will improve your skills. I guess everyone is entitled to there own opinion, anyway Keep it up bro.

Good day.

You lack insight.

Actually whether you like generic trance is of course personal taste. But once the sounds are there it's pretty easy to create a lot of tracks in a short time. I personally like new sounds and depth in music, and I most of the times can't find that in generic stuff. Except when the melody really kicks ass I can appreciate generic same sounding stuff.

because if everyone started producing trance that's already been done, then trance would stop evolving and nobody would try anything new or revolutionary, killing the genre. and dave, the people that "spend 50 hours a day trying to evolutionize the scene by writing 50 original pieces of " are the ones moving trance forward, you may not like how it sounds but if they never tried writing new stuff, you'd never know, right? All those 99 epics you love were not generic during their time.

i don't find it a problem to point out if music sounds generic (or any other negative crit), i just don't understand why people are lashing back at negative critiques in blind support of jon. after all, these are reviews, neg crits are only gonna help :) cheers all.

Oh I forgot to add an important notice.

To a producer, generic trance is an effective way to get some quick fulfillment. I mean, it feels great to finish a track. And with a nice template you can easily put anything you want to put in a generic trance project. After all, making music is about expressing yourself, and that could count for generic trance as well.

I have to say I've been thinking of some alias for these kind of productions myself. I just hope i dont get flamed, like Jon in this thread ;)

Hehehe.. although I have always been a cu.nt in making standard stuff.. :whip:

first of it doesnt matter if it sounds generic or not if you enjoy making it then thats the main thing. no point in making something that you dont enjoy to suit others.

tracks:

summer memories: like the progression of it nice low end on the bass. melody doesnt give me shivers although it has a good flow.

Heaven's open: sounds better than summer memories from the beginning more my style. very nice breakdown. what you using for those choir pads? this track i would have a go at spinning can feel a crowd reaction of this.

Cloudchaser: like the opening of this. nice kick and effects. sort of has similar elements to a track im making at the minute. the first few chords of the pad sounds similar to gouryella. nice melody. has nice emotion in it.

all 3 of similar breakdowns although nice listening. i like cloudchaser and heaven's open the best of the 3. summer memories is nice also though.
