With that said, I really don't think a lot of these young kids going into the army really realize what they are getting into. Not to mention, I think a lot of them are going into it solely for the money, not to fight for some B.S. war.

Grandma Theresa certainly has some wise words for the "yound kids" out there

Good. Perhaps people are reaizing that the reasoning behind the sham of a war is invalid and wrong. I hope the entire United States smartens up and backs out. Don't support Bush and his moronic group of administrators any more! Stand up for what you really believe in!!

I would respect the entire population of the U.S. a BAGIJILLION times more if they were to fight against their ty government, and I think it would make the rest of the world realize that it isn't the citizens of the U.S. that suck monkey balls, it's the creepo in charge.

From a historical point of view there were more popular uprisings against the war in Iraq than there ever had been in the past.
Marches in Dc, New York etc that involved many veterans themselves!
If we were in the 70s hippy mentality today the uprising would have been much bigger during the actual war, but as the majority of the population is not freeliving they just live their lives in silent protest.

On the other hand once the attack was launched so many people switched their views around, because the concept of supporting your troops is inherently part of human behavior.

You seem to be unaware about how divided the country is on the issue ( look at the news and see how split the media portrays/shows the situation ... but I can't ask you to do that as you refuse to watch it ) as well as how divided the elections were.

It's very close to 50/50.

Did they desert because they didn't want to fight in the desert?
hahahahaha :stongue:

I would normally agree with Theresa but these arent soldiers who were drafted in the service. They enlisted voluntarily and understood the risks involved. Now when something they don't like happens they just get up and leave? That's pathetic

They knew the risks involved, but alot of them would probably be willing to take the risk if this country was being attacked. But we weren't attacked. I doubt everyone in the service voted for Bush, and I think they have every right to stand up for themselves.

The situation at hand set aside enrolling in any form of military only offers you three options while on the job:
peace
attack
defense.

.... not sure if desertion officially has it's place in that list.

As uneducated as most of these troops are when they sign up, I guess it's clear now that they're not totally stupid.

Exactly

There's a little thing that civilians (and most soldiers) tend to forget. And that, my friends, is YSTMC......
