I know. We could pay in cash at a couple of local stores, but Costco decided to be jerks about it. |

| Lira to prevent this from happening again put all your important documents and money in your underpants. It also makes your package look bigger. :thepirate |

It had 35 reais inside (think of that as 30 dollars or something, as things are cheaper here), a one-thousand-Lira bill, some documents and a Pokémon card my brother gave me when he was 12 (wha? it had emotional value to me :D).
I'm lucky though. It happened now that I'm on vacation, so it's easier for me to do all the necessary procedures :) |
When I went to brazil, 1$ = 2.17 Reals
Hope you find it though. In sao paulo, little 12 year olds would be walking the streets looking for pockets to pick... |

| OMG I feel for you. This happened to me only once when I was in college and got ripped at a bar. Starting back over, getting all your cards and IDs back is such a pain. Good luck! |

True, but the price of products here is not the price of products up there in the US (everything is cheaper here, and the wage is lower too). Therefore, losing 10 dollars here is a lot worse than losing 10 dollars in the US.
I hope it made sense :p |

In the front?!
Damn, I was thinking of putting it by my side, so girls would want to reach for my pocket :disbelief :D |

Sure did, economists call this "purchasing power parity". U can test it by seeing how much a bundle of goods costs in one country compared to the price of an identical bundle of goods in another. The Economist magazine uses the price of a "Big Mac" at McDonalds and publishes the results regularly, using the US dollar as the base. This is the chart of the "big mac index" for January 2006:

Looks like the Brazilian currency is undervalued by about 15%. |

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant! I didn't know I could use PPP in this context :p
I find it strange, though, that Australia is down there on the list. How much is a bottle of coke there (2 litres)? It costs, at most, U$ 1.3448 here. |
