Why Is Everyone NOT Using Ableton!?!!! (pg. 3)

OK, so I guess in saying "Why does'nt everyone use Ableton?!" I was being a bit harsh. I just find the program actually incredibly musical. Basically it expands just DJ'ing into a lot of live remixing and re-editing on the fly (not to sound like a freaking commercial for it...but), and I feel if you really learn the program (read the manual\tutorials) you would see what I mean.
I come from LOVING vinyl and CDJ's to honest and I still use them. But I dont see how it could hurt learning to use what a ton of DJ's I really look up to use ie. Richie Hawtin, Matthew Dear, Sasha and even bands.
I play six instruments, all different. Viola, guitar, keys, percussion and a few other oddities, and if a program can allow me to combine my knowledge of that with performing and remixing live the dance music I love, I find it pretty fresh and exciting.

| but i like the remixes that are allready out there.... if i wanted to produce.... id build myself a studio. |

well that's exactly it. those that would probably want to use a program like ableton are probably a little more inclined to want to use it's production type functions...if that's not your thing...it's cool |

| i think there needs to be a balance between all the mediums that are available to us. in regards to ableton...havent touched it personally, but great program from what ive read and heard. it just seems as though a lot of people are just using that and only that. just my honest opinion, but you shouldn't hold yourself to once source if you can use TTs, cd decks, etc...almost seems too perfect with the new software thats avaiable. i like my music to have some flaws in them. with the analog aspect, i love hearing dj's screw up a transition but fix it almost immediately...shows that they're working. just my .02 |

I use it every day.
I rip my wax on the computer and use that to fix the timing by setting a warp marker every 4 beats. Anything more than that and you ruin the swing elements of the track.
Than I use some waves plug-ins to clean up the track and make a nice high quality digital file for serato.
Occasionally I make some dj tools tools or reconstruct and re-edit tracks that I don't like their arrangement.
It's a great tool for edits but I can't do sets with it. Too involved and it requires too much preparation before-hand.
I want to drink and deal with tunes already 'cooked' and cut for me to play.
You can always get creative by sample mixing, dropping acapellas mashing stuff-up e.c.t. but you are still playing other peoples music. Play it as it was intended to be heard.

ableton is capable of doing phenominal things with music, but its live perfomance factor (ironic isn't it) isn't so great. |
People on the floor have no idea what beatmatching is either. Whats the difference? |

unless that dj has a whole array of controllers in front of him and knows all his controls like the back of his hand. then you'll have one crazy monkey jumping all over the place behind the console. |

i dont understand why people say thisw... or what kind of crowds yall get in ur towns.
