Annoyances you have with your programs?

What are some features or behaviors that annoy you in some music programs? Do they make you less productive? Should they be dropped, should something be added, or just changed?

FL STUDIO
They need to lose that song playlist thing, I don't like playing with those stupid blocks and being unable to cut them.

Step sequencer is wonderful, but I don't like making songs with the program. They freaking segregate the patterns and audio clips, and don't allow you to chop patterns, it's so awful!

I hate having to switch between patterns as well, it would be awesome to have MORE THAN ONE step sequencer (for diff patterns) opened at once, spread accross the screen. I multitask when I make music, this program holds me back.

Also, that stupid name has to go. FL studio won't cut it, when people ask what FL means they will know it means Fruityloops. Change it completely, Image-line.

Various Sound Editors
For once, I wish I could chop my audio by ear instead of by clicking and clacking. Just make the editor play my wav file, with a click track in the background and a customized snap and I will play all the chops by ear. This saves me time, and makes it much more fun.

I'd definitely say more needs to be done in making the playlist more user friendly. I'd love to be able to chop up my patterns.

I disagree on the whole having multiple piano rolls open simultaneously notion. The workspace is cluttered enough as it is.

That's one thing I wish FL would do, is find a way to reduce clutter. I don't know how doable that is without drasitcally altering the workflow. I suppose they could have everything be a separate window, and keep their hotkeys the same. That'd be pretty cool.

buzz needs a piano roll

lol I got my first release right after I quit Buzz hehe. And Buzz doesn't need a piano roll if you're into the tracker concept. If you want a piano roll, start using FL with the buzz adapter.
I hate it. On the other hand the program has a lot of potential. But I don't like it anyway.

What Buzz needs is an interface that counts in decimal like everyone else. You shouldn't need a ing BA in CS to make music.

a 2 step undo feature in FL, im still on 3.4 so if u something up u gotta live with it or start all over again

The stupid bug with samples not being played back the right way in the built-in sampler has to be fixed.

That is sooo annoying.

FL Studio (and probably some other sequencers)

During playback, when i click on STOP and because the CPU usage is at 100% it keeps playing on and on. Sometimes the whole track plays 5 times before it actually stops. Other times I have to reboot :(

Usually when this happens, I'm so mad I don't produce until the next day :whip:

thats why i dropped learning FL.. its horrible not being able to cut or edit a block.

Cubase SX 3

the automation on MIDI tracks doesnt lie just beneath the MIDI track but in its own VST Instruments folder.. that i find quite annoying.

also, when importing MIDI files. alot of times the VST instrument changes the preset, i know there are ways around this.. but its not always working.

Reason:

- Sometimes when you want to move the Subtractor synth in the rack, you accidently click one of the screws instead. They will unscrew themselves instead of moving the synth. (It's a pretty neat easter egg but it's mostly annoying)

- Filter automation will sometimes create audible clicks where there shouldn't be if you move the position marker during playback. Sometimes this even appears on the rendered output!
(It's easily solved by closing and reopening the project file though.)

- No dB info on the mixer channels.
- No note length quantize.

These are the only things I can think of at the moment.
