| I thought Deep Dish was the best out there and then was Junkie, Benassi then Bad Boy Bill. Dave Clarke was bad and Tiesto sounded good with the intro but then I lost interest and left a bit early myself. Overall, it was an excellent event. |

There's lots of reviews similar to mine over at Purefuture. The point of this is not to say "look I was right" - I just want you to see some more reviews. :) Especially look at what he says about Benny... SPOT on.

and... it looks like I missed out not going to Vision for Benny afterwards... people are saying it was even better than his Purenation set :( |

Ok regaurding the show..
My friends and I drove all the way from Canton Ohio to see the show. None of us got checked at the door which rocked and made for a great night to start with. Junkie XL played the same songs he always does and rocked out doing it. When you have a good thing going run with it ehh? I had never seen Bad Boy live before and I was really impressed. His sets never impressed me much before but that night he was doin it for me. Deep Dish might as well have played their latest essensial mix and went home. I had wondered if they would and they did. No complaints at all SWEET set. I must admit i was a little sad though when the crowd didnt seem to know what P.A.T.T was at first :-( Not to meniton I seemed to be the only person in the crowd who knew what stevie nicks - dreams was... Finally, Tiesto. Judging buy his song selection alone he was in rare form, bringing back old tunes that just kick ass. As for his showman ship I would have to agree with the majority of you in saying it was some what lacking. Who leaves the decks that long 2 times.. I mean really. When it came to the sound I had been in the front row stage left all night so by the time Tiesto came on I couldnt tell the differance. LOL Anyone know if theirs going to be a release of any of these sets? |

Lots of fun, despite taking a nap in my car for a bit after Junkie XL. Loved Junkie, Deep Dish and gotta agree with Topher that Tiesto was a decent guy, along with DD, though talked to them more at Spybar. Missed hearing most of the acts and seeing most of y'all while running around but was certainly a great time and hope that Pure holds another event like this next year. The event at Spybar with Deep Dish was cool, though very packed.
Juliet, I was actually trying to get you a VIP badge, but it took about a half hour to peel one off and then I couldn't find you, so I wound up adding it to the collection in the meantime.
Blake, kinda heard your set, though in the trailer it sounded like Godzilla & King Kong mating since it was making the whole thing vibrate and moving boxes on the table, but I'm sure it was great. |

yeah, it's only been played and caned to death for the past 18 months. everyone around me was singing it. were you in the bathroom when they dropped it?

oh absolutely, that's why tiesto played pretty much the same set at every show from 2002-2003. it's the pinnacle of artistic genius

absolutely. nothing does it for me like hearing 4 year old mediocre tracks that have been beaten to death. it makes my night.
actually, i will go out on a limb and say that deep dish was possibly the worst performance i ever seen from any artist. |

Even though my ears hurt like hell for being in the front the whole time and my knees hurt like hell from standing ten hours straight I certainly had an amazing time.
We got there just as Blake was finishing up, I wish I had seen a little more of him. However, Justin Long played just about some of the coolest music I had ever heard, I wouldn't have minded more from him.
Benny Benassi's set was the most fun for me. He was having a lot of fun with the crowd. The best song of the day for me was the Pink Floyd song. Also it was fun when he played Love is Gonna save us and Who's Your Daddy.
Not a big techno fan but I enjoyed Dave Clarke, the crowd didn't seem into it nearly as much as Benassi though. Regardless, he played some sinister sounding stuff. He wasn't my favorite nor did he look all happy and working the crowd like Benassi but I'm certainly glad I had the experience of listening to him.
Junkie XL was good as well. I liked that whole thing he did with Red Pill Blue Pill, having fun with the crowd. I loved hearing Talk and I liked that song also about "throught the lens of a camera" or whatever song towards the end of his set.
Bad Boy Bill certainly had one thing going for him. His dancers :eyes: I loved hearing the banging electro fart bass so close to the speakers but after a while I get a little tired of that. A little too B96ish for me. I don't need to hear Yeah Yeah and Put Your Hands Up for Detroit together in the same set. But he played Cirez D - Punch Drunk so I can't complain.
By the time Deep Dish came on the crowd was huge. It was less of a dj set and more of a rock concert feel. Being in the front row that was fine with me. The first time Party All the Time was played the crowd went nuts. Especially the guys in the "My Girl Likes To PATT" shirts. Deep Dish was a blast. I don't really like "This Is Miami" but the remix they played was awsome. The crowd certainly liked "This is not Chicago". Deep Dish was probably the highlight of the event.
Tiesto...was ehh. I wish he had played a little more uplifting trance. I don't like that hard edged tech-trance crap. Dave Clarke played much better harder edged stuff. I wish he played Viridian - Sunhump (Richard Durand Remix) from his recent essential mix. JOC - Elevator Dance-Off is a pretty darn good song, good to hear that, also the Leon Bolier song.
Adagio for Strings, Lethal Industry, and Traffic all in the same set? Well I guess that's ok for the fan boys but I think he could have done better. The crowd was crazy though for him (except D Rek haha). And I really could have done without that Jesus on the screens. That's what I thought, now you can flame me for such a big post. |

haha yuris. You know, after having some time for the whole experience to "sink in"... I am beginning to realize what was the pinnacle of the whole day for me. It was when Benny threw down the Pink Floyd remix. The first time it hit - that was the height of the whole day. It was one of the best music experiences of my life. And, it has forced me to change my rankings on page 1. For the 3rd time.
edit: I'm getting goosebumps just thinking back about it and re-envisioning it right now. |
