Listening to right now... Let me start off by saying I haven't listened to anything even close to this trancy in well over a year. Felt like a change of pace and you seem to've mad street cred so anyways... very smooth so far, felt the key change or something between Breathe Me and Float away was kind gross, the harmonics just did not blend well. I could use a slower paced track at this point, kind of a breather, although this mix has fellt very high paced from the beginning. Yep, there it is sweet. Damn. my roomates forced me to plug out about 70% of the way through. Ill give it another listen, but heres my review of what I felt for the 70% I listened to...
Every track here could be a stand alone track, and there are really no weak moments. The pace and atmosphere is maintained throughout. Now, here is what I didn't like and why I got away from trance. The pace and the atmopshere are too uniform. Like after the Float Away track I was looking for a slow down and a breather. With what seemed to be a mix with a darker/melancholic tone to it, I would expect this breather to not be boring but fall more heavily and strong, emotional tones at a much slower place. What I got was a slight slow down, with a nice tone to it, but not nearly the breakdown (Im refering to a multiple track breakdown, rather than a breakdown within a track) I was looking for. After this, it seemed to just keep chugging along. Good stuff, but I think it was missing that spark that is created by dynamics like a sharp build up and break down. Then again, might not be your style. Either way, thanks for the mix.

This is great !
Dude that's awesome. I am very glad this mix hit you right. I am more glad that your love of trance is invigorated. That is pretty great. I think that you might have connected with the ambient style of mixing. It has a feel of a chill-out mix such as the ones you do with great care. It also could be that you haven't listened to much trance lately and all you needed was a decent mix. :D
But it was probably just track 4 huh. :)

This was a modestly well done set. There’s not too much that can be said technically except for the minor setback at 25:40. During that transition there was way too much going on and you should have chosen a different place to mix to the next track in my opinion. Other than that this set is mixed to perfection all of the way through. The tracklist, however, is the modest part I was talking about. You went for a chilled laid back approach instead of full on. It’s as if I was waiting for you to take me out of warmup mode to the main showcase, but never got around to it. There are some beautiful tracks on here which I love, but the weaker tunes just overshadow the whole feel of your mix. Gosh I hope I wasn’t too analytical. All in all, thanks for this mix; hope to hear from you again sometime bro.
Thanks Stevieboy. Appreciate the comments. I agree that the set really isn't too special in terms of trackselection and mixing really. It's a pretty standard trancer with pretty standard mixing. Well I did have a unique take on the mixing this time as I explained, but nothing technically astounding. Really it was meant to be a chill-out trancer. Something with mesmerizing tunes that have good rhythm but doesn't get as you say "full on". I should really be more consistent with my mixes because I have been going pretty "full on" in the past few months. But I think the tunes themselves are where we differ mostly (as usual). I just love these tunes, and you don't pretty simple. But c'mon! Breathe Me, Blue Forest, Voices From the Inside, The Sunrise mashup! These are some good tunes. LOL. Oh well, hope I can get to you in the future. ;)
Also ya, I have gotten a few complaints on the transition at 25 min. I realize that it is key clashing. I obviously felt it was good and was what I was going for so I'll have to stick to my guns on that. Thanks again for your thoughts and I will have a review for your new mix soon. Cheers.

-1st track = beautiful track to start the mix with. Haven't heard it before. A bit mellow.
-Interesting mixing style.
-2nd track = excellent choice as a follow-up to Gielen's track. Liking the synths in this one.
-Let Me Be, although it has decent vocals, it's the track least liked by me.
-Sia just has an excellent voice. She is a singer to keep in mind.
-This remix of Breathe Me is just excellent for this mix.
-Who knew the least liked track and the most liked could get along so well in a transition?
-Decent vocals in Float Away.
-Linear type of mixing, if there is such thing, up to this point.
-Good elements in The Fusion. Helping keep a good vibe in the mix. Nice remix by Maor Levi.
-Illusions is on, sounding nice so far.
- ^ It didn't help the mix that much though. It's nice but not what I was expecting as the next song. Just personal preference.
-Third place in the most liked is on, Going Home. This is nice.
-Yeah, this is awesome, almost makes me want to move up a place in the rank.
-Breakdown on the next one, OMG! Good stuff!
-Here comes the next one, getting towards the end, damn.
-Nice transition, as far as I can tell.
-Leon Bolier!! :eyes: :eyes:
-Nevermind the previous breakdown, this one rocks!
-:eyes:
-There should be a smiley with ears out instead of eyes out.
-I wrote notes like this in HS, with a lot of doodling though. Reminiscing.
-Liking the tone in this M.I.K.E. track. Nostalgic-like you could say. Sad voice coming from the inside I guess.
-Second place in Sensorium's most liked and this mix's last track.
-Would never have thought these two songs could go so well together.
-The vocals are just angelic, tear-provoking, etc.
-Repeating vocal part again (was done in previous listens as well).
-
-Done.
I'm enjoying this mix just as much as most of your previous ones. Good track selection. Personal taste doesn't allow me to say it was excellent in this one. Some tracks, if you can make sense of the notes, threw me a bit off.
Thanks for the share.
Thanks a ton for those notes. Gives me a feel of how your were thinking while listening in real-time. This mix is a pretty solid change from my other mixes. I have up until this mix tried to obtain clean, energetic uplifting key changes. It may have been a need for a change but for the most part the key changes are not increases in energy, but almost rather a downward progression of energy. A feeling of going deeper into an unconsious state of trance. IDK, lol it's a lot of thinking for one little mix. Actually I think I tried to change my style but actually my natural style sorta broke through a bit and it was confused a bit. It does show me that I may actually have a style of mixing that I'm not even really aware of. Oh well.
I love your notes man. Really appreciate it. I am glad I hit you were I did. Yes on those vocals! I think the Song to the Siren is probably my favorite vocal. The voice is great and the lyrics are so haunting. A sailor singing TO the siren saying that he/she has fallen for the siren and has given in. Beautiful story. Thanks for the video as well. Really beautiful. Cheers.

You know I like that kind of dreamy trance! As usual you start with catchy tracks. I was able to feel what you were trying to achieve with clashing, distracting keys. That's original approach :) But I'm not sure if I would get it right if you didn't mention how you feel it. The build is impressive, I really admire your abilities here. What is also fascinating about your mixes is track selection: unique sounds, promoting underrated tracks. Thanks for that great set.
(btw. still jamming to Incalescent, addicted, eh?)
Thanks MoN-SooN. :) Very nice comments. Ya, I'm not too sure I'll ever mix this way again. I think I may have just had to get it out of my system. LoL. anyway thanks for the words, I've listend to Atrum and will have to listen one more time before I post comments. cheers.

Wow, thanks for your very thoughtful comments. I really like that.

This comment is very on-point. I agree this mix is missing that and I may just not be able to pull off what I wanted to. I maybe should have committed more fully to my concept. As for wanting a breakdown in the mix. I think I see what that could be and that may be exactly what this mix needed to obtain my purpose. But my personal style of trying to build momentum and energy kicked in and confused things. The fact that you think that this mix is too energetic kinda throws me off though because this is one of my more mellow mixes. Anyway thanks a ton for the thoughts and hope you can catch me in the future.

finally got a chance to listen to the mix... cd player in my car took a fat dump. i have been entertained by the sound of wind for the last week.
i agree that the set is quite energetic, but then again i play prog, deep house and tech house. but the energy struck me right from the beginning... strangely for me it all lays in the high hats and kick drums (too many years of listening to josh wink sets has done that to me) truly i enjoyed every minute of the energy. your mixes are really the only trance mixes i get around to listening to, simply because your class and quality always shine through. track selection is ever top-notch and always fromage-free (which is why i tend to stray from most trance mixes)
your mix also contained a reverence i was sorely missing. i shall definately be sharing this mix with others.
thanks again

Let's not be modest shall we. I did say I love a few tracks (six out twelve tracks ain't bad hence the modesty part) and they are these:
3. Parker & Hansen - Let Me Be (Vocal Mix)
4. Sia - Breathe Me (Pillow One's Deep Broken Heart Mix)
5. Robbie Rivera - Float Away (Astrarta Mix)
12. E-Craig Vs. Ratty - Call It A Sunrise(Here I Am)(12am Mix)
^Those tracks reminded me of that Tiesto set you posted in MD. Now
here are some other tunes which I like a lot:
9. Danjo, Styles DJ Governer - Blue Woods (Original Mix)
10. Nicholas Bennison - Exocet (Leon Bolier pres Precursor Remix)
^The melody of the 'Exocet' track is reminiscent of an old piano concerto by this famous dead classical music composer, but I just can't put a finger on who.

Oh no! Forget consistency. You're great at what you do. So far I've heard form you prog. trance, tech-trance, and even a stab at house. Keep varying if that's where your heart takes you.

Hey, Im glad that theres at least one dj on here who seems willing to listen to constructive criticism.
I was reading in some of your other posts that this was supposed to be more of a chill-out mix for you. When I say energetic, I don't mean it in the sense of this being like a floor-stormer mix, it just seems to have this momentum behind it that I wouldn't associate with a chill-out mix. Anyways you'll definently be my go to for trance mixes from now on, as I try to listen to more of this stuff again.

beautiful :)
