September 2006 Mix

(right-click, save as)

Hello again. Finished my new mix and it's ready for listen. Just want to make a little announcement here. I know I'm a bit unconsistent when it comes to releasing my mixes so if you want me to let you know when I've released my new mix, give me an email ([email protected]). Use the subject line "Mail Me". Thanks.

For this mix, I wanted to make something very dreamy, euphoric, and of course trancey. I was just in the mood for something really spacey, heh. The energy in the mix is very low for the first 30 min or so. I purposefully chose key changes that seemed spacey and eerie, to give the mix sort of an ambient feel. This is something I usually try hard to avoid really. I usually try to have key changes that increase the energy and seem very clean. But this time as you will see the first 5 or so transitions are... well, hard to describe but you will see. After that the mix gets a bit faster, harder and darker. The key changes aren't as spacey but the transitions, I believe, still have the same feel that I was going for. Anyway such awesome tracks in here. I start with the excellent track from Johan that originally wasn't going to be the intro track but after I discovered it I had to use it at the begining. It's just plain perfect! After that is the superb Mino - Fluff Deluxe. This is probably the track that inspired the mix and I originally had it as the intro track but actually I think it works better this way. Then it's the sick vocal, Let Me Be, which has that perfect spacey vibe that I wanted. After Let Me Be is the f-ing awesome unreleased remix from Maor Levi of Sia - Breathe Me. This is such a find! And was perfect for the mix. Astrarta's mix of Float Away, Maor's mix of The Fusion, Illusions, Going Home and Blue Woods continue to build the energy and vibe. This is were I want the listener to get lost in a trancey state of mind. :p Next is one of the best tracks I've heard in a while. Leon Bolier's Precursor mix of Exocet. What a f-ing mean track that is. Leon is definately one of my favorite producers of all time. This track brings the mix to a darker, driving vibe. Then it's the instant classic, Voices from the Inside, from M.I.K.E.'s new album The Perfect Blend. This track pretty much speaks for itself. Last is the mashup I found of E-Craig - Call It A Day (12am Mix) and Ratty - Sunrise (Here I Am). Such a sick mashup. Not sure who did the mashup, maybe E-Craig. Anyway it's a perfect way to end the set. Please enjoy. Hope this hits you right.

Downloaded last night and as I usually do loaded it into my mp3 player for some tunes as I lay trying to get to sleep. Got to half way through second song so can't wait to check the rest. Trance is not usually my cuppa for last 8 years but they are all new tracks to me so it will be fun !!

sweet man. yeah that's one of the reason's i made the mix was something to go to sleep to. thats what i've been doing a lot lately and it's kinda hard to find that is the right kind of chill but isn't completely borring. heh. anyway this one has some sick tracks but is VERY trancey so hope you can dig. cheers.

I'm into track 3 of this set this afternoon at work. So far, so good! Your mixes always please, so I don't expect this to be any different. Keep up the good work!

This mix here has just re-invigorated my love of trance. such smooth transitions and an amazing tracklist ( too many highlights too mention ). It just doesn't get any better than this.

and I am not blowing wind up your arse !! ;).

This is great !

This was a modestly well done set. There’s not too much that can be said technically except for the minor setback at 25:40. During that transition there was way too much going on and you should have chosen a different place to mix to the next track in my opinion. Other than that this set is mixed to perfection all of the way through. The tracklist, however, is the modest part I was talking about. You went for a chilled laid back approach instead of full on. It’s as if I was waiting for you to take me out of warmup mode to the main showcase, but never got around to it. There are some beautiful tracks on here which I love, but the weaker tunes just overshadow the whole feel of your mix. Gosh I hope I wasn’t too analytical. All in all, thanks for this mix; hope to hear from you again sometime bro.

Notes:
-1st track = beautiful track to start the mix with. Haven't heard it before. A bit mellow.
-Interesting mixing style.
-2nd track = excellent choice as a follow-up to Gielen's track. Liking the synths in this one.
-Let Me Be, although it has decent vocals, it's the track least liked by me.
-Sia just has an excellent voice. She is a singer to keep in mind.
-This remix of Breathe Me is just excellent for this mix.
-Who knew the least liked track and the most liked could get along so well in a transition?
-Decent vocals in Float Away.
-Linear type of mixing, if there is such thing, up to this point.
-Good elements in The Fusion. Helping keep a good vibe in the mix. Nice remix by Maor Levi.
-Illusions is on, sounding nice so far.
- ^ It didn't help the mix that much though. It's nice but not what I was expecting as the next song. Just personal preference.
-Third place in the most liked is on, Going Home. This is nice.
-Yeah, this is awesome, almost makes me want to move up a place in the rank.
-Breakdown on the next one, OMG! Good stuff!
-Here comes the next one, getting towards the end, damn.
-Nice transition, as far as I can tell.
-Leon Bolier!! :eyes: :eyes:
-Nevermind the previous breakdown, this one rocks!
-:eyes:
-There should be a smiley with ears out instead of eyes out.
-I wrote notes like this in HS, with a lot of doodling though. Reminiscing.
-Liking the tone in this M.I.K.E. track. Nostalgic-like you could say. Sad voice coming from the inside I guess.
-Second place in Sensorium's most liked and this mix's last track.
-Would never have thought these two songs could go so well together.
-The vocals are just angelic, tear-provoking, etc.
-Repeating vocal part again (was done in previous listens as well).
-
-Done.

I'm enjoying this mix just as much as most of your previous ones. Good track selection. Personal taste doesn't allow me to say it was excellent in this one. Some tracks, if you can make sense of the notes, threw me a bit off.

Thanks for the share.

Hey!
You know I like that kind of dreamy trance! As usual you start with catchy tracks. I was able to feel what you were trying to achieve with clashing, distracting keys. That's original approach :) But I'm not sure if I would get it right if you didn't mention how you feel it. The build is impressive, I really admire your abilities here. What is also fascinating about your mixes is track selection: unique sounds, promoting underrated tracks. Thanks for that great set.

(btw. still jamming to Incalescent, addicted, eh?)
