Not to mix.
I do use it to control filters and as a wet/dry fader for EFX, though.
I didn't vote in the poll. I guess I should put "no" because I don't use it to mix with, and that's the gist, right?
Anyway, I'm shocked to see how many people use the crossfader to mix so far. |

No! Except for scratching why would you wanna use it? Even for cutting I find it better to use the channel fader.

Meh, I'm not saying I use it all the time. For normal mixing I use the channel faders, but for effects and whatnot I sometimes implement the crossfader.

Very rarely I do. Sometimes I use both at the same time, if I can't make it sound right with the regular faders.

Yes, but only as a "wet/dry" fader for my EFX or to use filters on multiple channels/multiple filters at once.

Yes because my faders are broken. :(

I am perpetually boggled that trance DJs (in general) do not use the x-fader... this isn't a case of one or the other; skill with both channel and cross faders is a vital element of improving your mixing abilities. There are many exceptions, but in general, the channel faders are for smooth mixing, while the cross fader is a blast for precisely controlled cuts and other more overt manipulation. I feel that it is wise to adapt one's mixing style to the music you are playing... and considering the wide variety of sounds I play out, it is extremely useful to have skill with both.
