hate to say it, but what is your friend doing at a frat party when she's 18? i never condone rape...but sounds like your friend could use some better judgement... |

I was 17 when I entered college, and at some schools frats dominate the social life. There really wasn't much else to do except maybe house parties. I don't think it's uncommon to find 18 year olds at frat parties at all. It's not really about having better judgement, it's about what the primary social options are. What was I supposed to do? Sit in my dorm? |

where i'm from most people are 18 in senior year of high school...so that's what i meant. and it's pretty common for high school girls to go to frat parties because they think they are cool and mature or something.
but yeah i know what you mean... |

oops, you missed my point. i'm saying that date-rape is more common at frat parties than probably anywhere else.

Oops, no I didn't. I suppose more people die of excessive alcohol consumption at fraternities than anywhere else too, right? Because those instances get more publicity on the news, right?
I'm sorry your friend found herself in that situation, but would it be equally justifiable of me to hate on everyone who lives on Mifflin St. because a girl I know got sexually assaulted there? |

| Last time I checked, an 18 year old girl is allowed to go to a frat party. That doesn’t mean she lacks judgment in the least. When a piece of decides to slip her a roofie and he and his buddies run a train on her, does that mean she shouldn’t have been there in the first place? C’mon Jason, I’m extremely disappointed by that comment. |

it is a commonly-known fact that frat parties are the most common environment that date-rape occurs...no, i don't think the media has overdone this one.
comparing "mifflin st neighborhood" to "frat boys"? you're just grasping at straws now....
i started this thread to vent at the general attitude and demeanor commonly found in frat boys...who would of thought i would have met such resistance on TA? |
