| without a doubt the technic 1200 is the industry standard for turntables and the pioneer cdj-1000 is the industry standard for cd decks... but is there anything close to an industry standard for mixers? |

You'll find more pioneers in clubs, but top djs will request xones more often I believe.
Percentage wise Denon and Pioneer rule the market by a loooong shot. |

Depends on where you live I think...
Here in Boston and in NYC you'll find a LOT of Rane MP2016's...

Why are you guys ruling out the small clubs that dont have ranes and xones? Denon is what these guys have for the most part.
And these are the clubs you'll most likely be playing :p |

there's no such club here...maybe one...Duplex Prague...but...I actually can't play there lol
in my town is 4 clubs...one of them has an ooooooooooooooold numark mixer, the ather has a Behringer, then there's one with American DJ, one with a desk-built-in two chan. behringer and one which does have a DJM by pioneer...but is owned by two heads...

I've only played out 3 times (been at this just under 2 years).
First time we brought our own gear, so I played on a Xone 92 rotary.
Second time was definately a club... but they had a very old Urei 1620 rotary mixer (which was nice to play on).
Third time I played on a Rane MP2016 (no expansion).
Guess I've been lucky ;) |

IMO, there are a few mixers, that in their own time have proven their reliability, sound qualtiy, and features to be considered industry standard. I think the real question is: what is your definition of "industry standard?"
The first industry standard mixer which will be an all time classic is the Urei 1620, which went out of production for years and has been brought back as the 1620le.
Rane took this rugged rotary design and added an EQ/crossfader expansion option after the 1620 went out of production and introduced the MP2016 and XP2016. If I had to nominate one mixer for the term industry standard it would be this.
Recently, with its introduction in 2003. the Allen and Heath xone :92 has proven versatile enough to gain the confidence of many top notch DJs. Noted for its sound quality, filters, 4 band Eq and midi control.
In many mid level clubs you will find alolt of Pioneer DJM 600s and Vestax PCV 275s. Both are excellent mixers with good sound quality. |
