If it comes to the point that you have to use your gun to stop the suspect, (either because negotiations or other tactics have failed, or suspect has used or shows willingness to use his weapon to threaten other people's lives) you shoot to kill. Centre of mass. (Pretty much middle of chest) |

There was that Ecole Polytechnique incident in late 80s in MTL, also another one in Taber, Alta a few years ago.
