technically speaking im not a sturctural engineer (well i will be legally in 6 months) but as i have completed all my materials and structural design courses in steel and concrete, i feel i can bring a bit of expertise to the table.
point to be made = anyone who thinks the WTC towers collapse was a controlled demolition using RDX, or thermite or any other host of explosive theories have now had their right to rational thought revoked.... you are clearly retarded.
im not going to get into a detailed analysis of the structural failure, and yes i have sat through many lectures on the topic as three of my proffs were on the design team for the building. Stop trying to compare the failure mode of the WTC towers to any other building that has caught fire or been hit with a plane. no two buildings are alike (unless its a home depot cause they are pretty cookie cutter, infact i belive they only need to hire the services of a geotechnical engineer to design the foundation as they never change the design of the main structure from store to store). while some buildings share common construction practices, they all use different sized members in different places, in the case of concrete buildings, the steel rebar is never A in the spot it was designed to be in, B the same size and location as a different concrete building. and lets not forget the main fact taht steel looses 2/3 rds of its strength at about 800 degrees celcius
i could show you pictures of buildings that would make you yourself if you knew how they were actually built.... |
post some pics then. i feel like ting myself. :) |

SAVE THE THEORIES FOR ANOTHER THREAD

I started this thread, SEPERATE to all the threads about 9/11 conspiracies.
I know threads never go the way you want them to, but for once, in respect and light of the material, thought people posting would keep off the utter crap that is conspiracy theories and 9/11.
Not even to mention previous comments, I have read numerous articles, and know my fair amount about reality, which some people seem to have lost the grasp of, to know that when for example, plane 175 hit the south tower, an approximated 10,000 Gallons of fuel blew up, and 6 floors were distroyed, the heat from the explosions, reached over a million degree's for a matter of a few seconds and when this happened, parts of the structure of the building, melted, and the enormous weight of the floors above, and still, a plane which was in there, would have caused immense stresses on what structure was still there, having been deformed or not. |

while i appreciate your support on conspiracy bashing, i must point out a few inconsistencys with your paragraph. jet fuel fire reaching a million degrees is near impossible, 1000 degrees centigrade is feasible but about 800 is all that would be required for the results we saw.
secondly the steel wouldnt have melted, steel melts from between 1200 - 1800 depending on its allow properties, since the WTC towers were built using HSS which has a rediculase amount of nickle and chromium in it, it put its melting point at closer to 1800. since the support columns for the building were all at the perimeter, chances of those columns reaching 1800 in even the bigest of an inferno are pretty slim, but if they hit 800 degrees they lose 2/3rds of their strength.
so you were kind of right anyways. the weakend steel deformed and literally dropped the floors from above onto those below |

That was ok... It would have been nice to see the other angel of the plane hitting...

the whole thing went over a long period of time...I'm guessing they turned the camera off when nothing happened, then turned it on again immediately after the plane hit, or the building collapsed |

Thats VERY true. I was thinking they edited the video before posting this. Whatever the case, they would have had an amazing view of that second plane coming in, but the North Tower would have blocked the impact.
