I donno if it is that the genre is in the wrong hands or i donno what odd reason that there's no more quality and creativity in the music. It just simply sucks now.
I can see hip hop dieing. slowly but surely it's goin downward.

hahhahhhahh. the music dominates 100% of radio airwaves. to say hip hop is dying is to say its a fad. fads dont last 30 years. I dont see hip hop dying anytime soon, however i do see it making a huge switch from ur everyday bling bling era to a more sophisticated modern era. blibg bling is a trend taht will die for sure.

do you see house music dying anytime soon too?
Where do you think it came from? All styles of music are some form of another. It may not be what you prefer to listen to, but it is not dying anytime soon, nor will it. Hip Hop has been around for years and will continue to be.

Add Pharrell to that list. Anything that man touches gets infused with a beat so good it consistently knocks my socks off. I still love Grindin'.

pharell is such a pimp .... snoop dogg as well .. his raps are are brilliant :haha:

Define that sophisticated modern era of yours.

I don have enough knowledge to discuss the history of hip hop with you since you'r so much into it. Cause i never liked the music cause i believe it's too repetitive and melody wise it is the weakest genre. The reason for that is because it is based on the lyrics and how the author ryhmes with the beats.
It's only the matter of taste in music that i hate hip hop ,nothing more. but as far as i see the mainstream hip hop goin i see it dying in 5 years. just like how punks went to grave.

YA i know that house music have alot of african rythems and i also know that house and hip hop have alot in common. for example they both have repeatation of loops.
I am personally in love with house music , but i know that in 5 years it is goin to have alot of changes.
I can't compare house with hip hop at all. cause house still got its passion and it's still a beatifull music.
But hip hop is just in wrong hands and now most of the hip hop tracks
that i hear is just lame. makes me think that music is dead!! I swear!!

I used to like that stuff. My favorite artists were Dr.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, and Eminem. But those guys died down as a whole.

I listen to underground rap and....it had pathetic and disturbing lyrics. Like some guy wanting to prove that he is a bad ass. So he rapes a random person on the street and the victim dies. Then he realized it was his own mother. And they also rap about other stupid . Since I can't relate to their ghetto lifestyle and music is supposed to be fun not disturbing/ depressing, I just gave it all together.

I used to like to listen to it on occasions, like Black Star, old KRS One etc, but I kind of got bored of it, didn't really do it for me anymore. Now, even when I listen to the guys who are making the music (the 'underground supposedly.... wherever the hell that is) are just seeming to ger very repetitive in their instrumentals, sounding like the down tempo beat you would hear when you're selecting your weapons in goldeneye. I also can't stand to hear about 'the struggle' all the time, nor how many blunts it took the rapper to get through his break up.

+1

when it was about social and political climates of the time... when they actually talked about something meaningful.

some rappers today still do that, (mosdef, talib, deadprez, etc.) but they're not nearly as popular as the phony pop-rap names on the radio/tv.

I find the less seriously you take commercial hip-hop, the easier it is to enjoy. Kind of like Euro actually.
