Uhm, yes. Like I said, there's a difference between best dance recording and best dance album. Kylie Minogue and New Order weren't nominated for best dance album. Clearly there's a distinction between best dance album and best dance recording. I'm pretty certain Madonna's cd won't be in the best dance album cateogory but rather the pop category. One or more of her singles, however, might be under best dance recording. |

We're not talking about the difference between albums and singles, we're talking about the difference between electronic, dance and pop.
To the Academy, there really is none and never has been. Check the past years nominees in the field. The Britneys and Janets take home the hardware, not the BTs and Oakenfolds.
(Madonna's already won the award before, btw...for Ray of Light. That means she will sweep for Confessions) |

Could've sworn that's what I'm talking about, hence my references to the differences between best dance track and best dance album. Since the Best Dance/Electronic Album category was introduced two years ago several dance acts have been nominated. PVD for Reflections and Sasha for Involver, I believe BT's Emotional Technology was also nominated. The first winner of the Best Dance/Electronic Album was Basement Jaxx with Kish Kash and last year was The Chemical Brothers for Push The Button. The thread title is "best edm album" not best dance track. So although Madonna's cd is dancey and produced by Stewart Price she's a pop artist, not a dance artist. |

| Madonna is probably the most important dance artist of the last half century. Her music has always been dance music. You cannot dispute this. |

As for album.... I wish Moshic's Salamat would get a nomination, but that's probably pretty unlikely. I could see Oakenfold winning it since his name, like Basement Jaxx or Chemical Brothers, is actually known in the US. Though Ishkur is probably right... they'll probably go with Madonna -- after all, most of my friends consider Hung Up to be "techno". |
