Very few guys can live in Toronto without a car.

If you live right downtown, or RIGHT next to the subway station, then maybe... Otherwise, you're screwed. Suck it up, buy a cheaper vehicle(honda/toyota), redude usage(carpool, ttc), maintain it well (lower costs in the long run)...

There are a lot of cab journeys you can make for $1000 a month.... :P

Even if I did live in the city, there is no way I could sustain the same lifestyle I have now without a car.

I agree, it is a big shift in options... I was just saying that you don't need to rely on TTC when you can get a cab. Also, I rely heavily on Daniel and Mike and Mark to help me out when I need wheels.

And freeing up $1000 a month can make a huge difference to those options.

Regardless, I don't need a car, I cope really well without one and my ass is smaller as a result of the 50 mins walk a day I get to and from work but yes,

I miss my car!

bahahaha I must admit that I am back to being 15 in that respect...

I remember the days, affectionately, when the list of bf requirements went something like this....
1. Car
2. Decent teeth
3. Saturday job

Now it is...
1. Decent teeth
2. No ex-wife/kids
3. Affectionate
4. Self sufficient
5. Car
6.... the list goes on

I guess life takes you full circle sometimes.

If you do return to driving, please notify us as we understand how hard is thr transition from driving on the left side of the road and sticking with the left.

..............

Dima, you said it like I would, well said.

I would add... pulling my ragtop down, driving home after a late night summer baseball game, driving the country roads's warm nights, clear skies, stars and milky way above, warm summer wind blowing around me in my roadster. Then saying my goodbyes and putting it away for the winter, anticipating the next for months when I can take her out, wash and wax her, and do it all over again.

Don't worry, I had a car here for a few months, Mazda 3 sport.... called her Maizie but lost her in a custody battle (to take the insurance on myself, they wanted $7k per year as I had no Cdn driving history) so I am well versed in driving on the other side of the road and car.

Man, thats a massive amount of clicks Steve.

Right now with trips to TO every other week for parties and what not, I'm average about 2,000 km a month.

U gotta commute far to work?

Always a good and smart choice! One I considered a great deal before I finally decided to buy a car back in the spring.
