Me and 3 friends had an awesome time. We hit the line early and got in early (9:20 PM).
I must have been approached by at least 8 people asking me if i wanted pills. I told them no way. I dont need drugs do have a good time. I was there for the music and the DJ line up. |

Living in Toronto for the past 4 years, I never had a chance to experience lovefest. This year, I made it a point of going, even though I could only stay for 2 hours. Those two hours were great though! So many stages (a little close together at some points), but the music was diverse and all good! The spundae stage was bumpin pretty hard.. although I spent a lot of time at the stage that looked like it was from the movie Mad Maxx (with all kinds of metalwork and fake guns made out of metal tubing). The tribal haus there was pretty good, and some friends (subscience crew) were spinning there right when I was about to leave.
I will definately have to plan out some time for next year's Lovefest!
SF Lovefest > TO Prideparade, anyday :wtf: :wtf: |

The VIP was much better than last year but the line ing sucked and where the hell was the event staff. Dave started out behind me and by the time the window opened up was way in front of me. Sneaky devil. They had no event staff out front at all and so there was no line just people pushing and cutting in from the side. There were soo many people who just about fought it out.
The parade was very good this year with 3 or 4 djs on the skills float spinning very good sets. |

The Parade -
It's hard to imagine a better parade/street party than this one. The music and floats were excellent, espeically the soundae/skills and tantra floats. The crowd was large, diverse, enthusiastic, and friendly. And although a little behind schedule, everything seemed to be pretty well organized as far as i could tell. Also, this was bar none one of the nicest days in terms of weather that we've had all year in SF.
The second annual lovefest party at the BGCA -
My friends and i didn't show up to will call until around 12:30a, and we STILL had problems getting our tickets with a very disorganized and sometimes rude and apathetic bunch "running" the event entry. Once inside, we were too late to catch much of Christopher's set :( but Junkie xl, oakenfold, and what i saw of a&b were pretty good but nothing too terribly mind-blowing imo. I think my favorite musical moment of the night was when Junkie opened with coldplay - talk (jxl remix) - i realize it's a little played out in the clubs and frankly i was surprized to hear it, but god damn i just love that remix. Also, except for global underground/liquified with paul van dyk at the mayan (LA) circa 2002, it was the best lazer show i've seen.
The negative aspects were a few too many candykids (worse than last year, and i feel pretty confident some of those pacifier sucking children weren't a day older than 16) a few too many gangstas (but maybe not as bad as last year and i didn't actually see them cause much trouble), and the second floor and higher bleachers were way, way, wayyy too hot - if someone starts tripping out down there and their heart starts racing and their friends take them to a place to sit down and chill and recollect themselves, the last thing they need is an environment that hot - i mean literally it musta been at least 95 farenheight up there at some points.
Overall it was a fun party with a pretty positive and plurish vibe, i think it's a close call, but i'll probably give it another try next year. |
