SF LoveFest 2006 impressions.

First, this is not a great "impression" considering how late I got there....so here goes.

1. Michelle and I get to the festival late. Very late. Like 6:45pm. I remember last year tkaing a couple hour break and come back at the same time and the only float that had a crowd was the Spundae float with Ferry Corsten. Well, not this time. Tons of floats still had huge crowds. It was AWESOME! Chrisopher Lawrence was on when we got there and was tearing the whole ing place up. The SF Drum 'n Bass float was also rocking as well. Actually, I'd say 90% of the floats still had big crowds around them.

2. And that is awesome considering it was actually pretty chili and windy in SF at the time. Was 90 degress when we left Pleasanton, and like 60 when we got there. But it didn't seen like anyone cared.

3. Talked to 10 peeps about the crowd size and all agreed it was even busier than last year. And the music was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more incredible.

4. The afterparty: Getting in sucked. Went to one line (VIP, guestlist, artists) at 7:30, was told to go to another line and waited there for 30 minutes just to be told to back to the same line I came from. So I wait in that line for over 30 minutes just for the window to open up (having pushed and positioned myself well)....I am maybe 5th and yet it still took me like 30+ minutes to ing get up there to my list. Almost got into a fight because heads were trying to cut into line from the side. Anyhow, get my tickets and get in. What a ing pain in the ass, though.

5. VIP this year was infinitely better than last year or at Popsicle. They had the DJ Level stage, although it was a bit off to the side, but still not bad. The VIP still said VIP could hang with the DJs and that was bull. The food in VIP was WAYYYYYYYY better than before. It was catered sushi, sandwiches, ceasar salad wraps, and varoius fruit and all hella good.

6. Crowd was very young, even compared to pass Skills massives. But there other than a few weirdos, not too bad. Definitely more people than there were at last years afterparty and at Popsicle in April.

7. Last but not least, security was a bunch of s. They were totally going on powertrips. It was so bad it was not funny. Too the point I just stood there watching their attitude going WTF? Believe it was one guy named Oliver or something that was the mega pain in the ass. Screw that guy.

8. Warm screwdrivers are gross. I had so many, though! Haha. And all in a quick span.

9. Met Christopher Lawrence's wife. She's cool.

10. To everyone I meet for the first time, saw for the first time in awhile, etc Thrax, Grah, KristinaSkye, Hotdogwater, DiskoDave, onman there list goes on...there literally had to be about 30 various TAs (including lurkers who neve rpost!) who said hi and congrats to me....I just want to be sure to thank everyone.

11. Next year I hope to be more closely involved with LoveFest. Rich and I had a good talk with one of the founders of SF Love Parade/LoveFest Friday night and I have a lot of ideas that I think can help. Seems like they are close to having a solid organization put together and we are going to see the benefits of that in 2007 starting with suppppppppperrr early promotions for LoveFest 2007.

nice review.

I went to last year's parade. I do agree /w the lines. Complete pain in the ass. we ordered Will Call tickers and we had to wait 45 min just to get to the ticket box to get our actual tickets. then we had to wait another 15min in the actual line to get in.

It seems like massives are getting more popular and bigger. Monster Massive is ganna be hella packed next month.

Wish I could have stayed at the afterparty longer. THe music was really good. Christopher Lawrence had just been on for a bit but then we had to split to go pick up the baby.

Production was much improved this year. Just nice upgrades. Can't wait to see what's store for the future when/if Skills & Spundae team up.

I had an awesome time up until the point I started drinking (the shots I took at 7am don't count), haha. I'm actually pretty bummed out because I got pretty sick (puked several times) and didn't get to enjoy the music at the festival grounds.

The parade itself didn't seem as wild as it was last year, however, the spundae float was going insane! At one point, the float was positioned right next to a wall which made the bass sound sooo ing good! The one chick DJ (DJ Rap?) was playing Benny Benassi - Satisfaction. Once the bass dropped, it was so ing deep and round! I looked around and everyone is dropping to their knees and getting into the rhythm of things, it was a awesome.

I got some pretty cool pictures, mostly of my friends and I next to the festival entrance. They're on my friend's phone, so I'll post them later.

Never again am I gonna drink a 40, some whiskey, and a mudslide in the span of an hour...

did anyone see the crowd of highschool girls making-out in front of the spundae float? lol.

Oh man! Nice little review Dave, sounds like it was, yet again, better than the previous year. Sooooo bummed I missed this...I hate work, damn college football! Do they have to play at the same time as Love Parade? s! Renee, you puss lol

I can't say for sure there were more people this year...just what I heard.

What I can say though is that there were probably 4 or 5 times as many people there in the last hour this year than last year. Remember during Ferry's set last year at the end the Spundae float was pretty much the only float with any crowd. Just about all the floats still had huge crowds during the last hour.

The day party was fricken awesome!!! Skills/spundae/beatport, the float to the right of skills/spundae, and Opel floats were a blast.

John Beaver :) and Darude rocked an NOT over-packed 1015 it was nice to have room to dance after being in crowds all day...Darude's 2 hour set was particularly awesome. He dropped a ton of prog tunes dangerous power and sydney from g&ds new artist album, a mashup of as the rush comes with some tune i couldn't ID, some above and beyond tunes, some other cool stuff I couldn't ID, and some of his own classics. (I've seen a few of his sets now and he's a solid DJ with a great stage presence, i don't know why people give him so much crap.) Stayed for the beginning TallaXLC but was exhausted from dancing all day!

All in all I had a blast yesterday and glad I didn't have to wait a million years to get into the official afterparty to get crammed and molested by sweaty teens like some of my other friends did. Keep bringing the LOVE FEST to SF!!!!

my 1hr impession of this years LF was the music was cool and was nice seeing the few TAs that i ran into. sucks i was only there for an hr but i really liked what dyloot was playing. nice to see dave (and finally meet the wifey/fiancee), henry, mo, bjorn and gf, chris, and malia and bf. my friend she was still drunk from that morning and i was still recovering from the night before along with her. we had ~4L of vodka between around 10-12 people. so yeah to say the least i was exhausted by the time i got there at 7.

as dave said a lot of people must not have cared about the weather cause it was 63 outside and there were TONS of people still just chilling and dancing. i didnt expect to see so many people out with the temperature but it was a nice surprise.

Wow, LoveFest was great!

The only thing that annoyed me was the afterparty line. We got in line around 7:45 and didn't get in for almost two hours! :whip: Another point of interest was that when my gf asked one of the security guards where the line starts, he's pointed over to the left and said, "Over there. And I have pills too."

All in all I had a great time at Love Fest and Love Lee. I remember some great tunes being played, especially from A&B (like their 2nd to last track on the Spundae float). Jukie XL ripped it up at the afterparty, including his opening track that had some quotes from The Matrix and went something like "Take the red pill... take the blue pill..."
