Yeah, except for...you know...building woodwind instruments. And sub basslines. And Bass drums. Or any kind of drum for that matter. And any sort of sound that doesn't have loads of harmonic content. Or any sound that you wish to massively distort...
Saying 'saw is the best waveform' even in jest is like saying 'A' is the best letter of the alphabet.
I mean. What? |

LOL!!!
I agree though, you can't define SAW as a best waveform. It like saying this is the best synth...There are more then one good synths, and each person got his own taste, most of the time each and every synth got his own sound and his own good/bad parts...
Also your songs will get pretty boring after a while if you use only see, you need to expend and use more waveforms so there will be atleast a bit of variation in your tracks.
That's my opinion. |

i bought a jp-8000 a while ago. at the time, i got a sweet deal on it, but also had the option of going for the jp-8080, which cost almost twice as much.
it'd be nice to have the 8080. takes up lots less room, more features, the vocoders kick ass. just don't have the space!
bah, either way, it's a kickass synth. you can get the VSTi which emulates it though: "Supersaw." |

The 8080? the keyless version? costs twice as much? I think you mean that the 8000 costs twice from the 8080...as far as I know the keyless is cheaper. though got more functions. |

Agreed. The supersaw synth is good but can't be compaired to the real thing. It is fat, and good, it gives the idea of what the JP can produce but that JP itself can produce way more and in way better forms. It's basicly like having a demo synth. hehe =)
About the price I got my 8080 for about $500 and it's in Israel so it's a bit expensive. I believe it is around $350-$400 in the US, right? |

Got mine, a JP-8080, mint, boxed, manual etc a few months back for $500 Australian, or about US$375
Really do enjoy it, would recommend if you can grab a good bargain. |
