Allied: Hip hop isn't edm. Two completely different genres. What you're talking about is the perception of both, and that is the same, yes. But they are not same music styles. You pick up a mic and spit out some lyrics with absolutely no music to back you and it's still called hiphop/rap....can't do that with edm ;)

true but i guess his point is that, much of hiphop today has electronic beats behind all the vocals just as edm does.
But there's alot of 'hiphop' that doesnt use those types of beats, saul williams comes to mind...havent heard him in a while i might be wrong but i think its just vocals. |
