No you missed the point- It's all about taking a chance on some newer names. if I hadn't listened to friends of mine, I wouldn't be here in the first place. Do you think I gave a about DJ Vibe before I saw him? I had heard the name tossed around ages ago, but though nothing of it- saw him, had a BLAST, end of story.
Ask Tag, when he first started to pump me up about vibe I was like, ya ya ya wtvr. I was close to not going. I went to stereo knowing 2 things:
Vibe plays tribal
Stereo has great sound
=Great night.
And clubbed like me? What does that mean?
EDIT: Without that element of suprise every once and a while, you are missing out on one of the fundamental parts of this scene.
An aspect which got most of us into this sort of thing in the first place. |

TRUE THAT... thats why you should all come to the mansion on saturday and listen to MATT ROWAN who by the way tore up the conference last year at the reversible party with porter wilkie micali and reveay. jaytech makes his first international appearance SUPPORT THE OZZIES
i mean honestly Renaissance / ministry of sound / hoperecordings /are just some of the major lables to mention that these guys are on
but apart from that back to desyn. and sultan you realise this is going to be a wicked night desyn is back on track and he wont be sick i guarentee it hes been itching to play stereo and now that he has that chance hes not gonna miss out on it. and sultan well there really aint much to say about sultan last time at stereo he ripped the place up great way to start the birthday MONTH !!!!!! |

I think you missed the point. Im through taking chances, it was excellent while it lasted but its way too expensive and unhealthy. Besides, Desyn isn't a new name for me, i heard his sets before and i know his sound, i just didnt hear any recent sets. What i've heard from previous years and early this year was good yes, but not amazing, sorry that's my opinion and taste.

Dude you don't need to tell me this, as if i didn't spend nearly all my weekends last year in an afterhours....you think i knew all the DJs i went to see? I didnt and I had a blast.

That means taking those chances and seeing DJs you havent heard of before. I'm done with that.

By this time next year I'll be more out of the scene than I am now and in 2 or 3 years from now I'll be out completely. Is that a tragedy? Is it the end of the world?
And yeah that's how i got into it too....the only difference is ive been in for a while and its time to back out a little you understand?
Ps: I just want to make something clear here: We are different edm lovers on this board...some of us want to make a career out of it, some have ambition to maybe make a career out of it and some just love the music....i belong in the last category...

Wait, so you love the music and used to try new fun things, but not anymore? I mean I understand where you are coming from, but also note, hat I have been doing afterhours for about four years now- I've seen a lot, and suppose the unhealthy aspect hans't come into play as much as I have barely done any drugs during afterhours in comparison to a lot of individuals- (part from a bit of weed an booze, but at least i'm getting exercise in the whole process).
I just don't understand why you are pulling yourself from the scene as you claim to be. Why can't you keep dancing? It's no crime to be at stereo and I KNOW that all of us can easily wiggle reduced passes for most of these parties and if that love is there, I believe drugs are not necessary.
Take this for example.
You meet a girl, you slowly fall in love. You her a whole bunch, have a great time, love her to pieces and then you stop experimenting with all the sex toys and go back to missionary- But why? You love this girl? You love the kinky sex!!!
You got into this music by trying new things, it seems unfortunate that you'd want to exit the scene by doing the same old. (in some ways) |

you are one in a million, good for you. (but unhealthy doesnt mean only taking drugs)

im backing out, not pulling myself out, its a slow process but yes it is happening. the money and drugs was a general comment i said about going out to afterhours and i know i can go to any event if i really wanted to. why cant i just keep dancing? coz there's more to life and because my legs are beginning to hurt...

going with your allegory ill say this:
an on-and-off relationship since 2000 and an intense commitment for a year and a half marks time to think about the other fish in the sea...besides no-one said anything about missionary, im all about positions ive never tried before until it gets redundant and its time to mooooveeeeee onnnnnn....

only in rare 'some ways' (i.e. ill only see the same dj twice or thrice or more if he's amazingly impressive (for me example: Holden, Sasha, Carl Cox, Satoshi...locals like Creator and Maus) and djs ive never seen live that i cant wait to see (i.e. extrawelt, lee burridge, digweed [at an after], sven ing vath...) is a new thing imo.
Again i stress, i know where you're coming from but you have to understand that not everyone is as passionate or in love with edm as others...personally i already have my one true love and it aint edm...
