I'm on 63rd and 2nd and we can see the smoke from one of the corner offices. Lots of sirens blaring. One of my co-workers actually left a little while ago before they released the exact address b/c he thought it was his sister's apt building. Luckily, she's not home now. Hopefully, they're ok :(
CNN's dumb. They're saying, "It is near Rockefeller Center." They're off by about 25 blocks! |

| quote: | NEW YORK (CNN) -- An aircraft has crashed into the middle of a brick highrise residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue, police officials said.
The building is located near Rockefeller Center and is very close to the Hudson River. A North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) spokesperson told CNN that it had not been tracking the plane.
There was no word on casualties as firefighters battled the flames that shot up from several windows on the 10th story. The Federal Aviation Administration has said a "general aviation" aircraft had hit the building.
Video from the scene shows at least three apartments in the high rise fully engulfed in flames. |
CNN needs to get their facts right |

| Well, a main issue with incorrectly reporting where the crash is i.e. the midtown business area as opposed to the residential East River is scaring people. I heard that markets were immediately affected b/c of the fear it might be terrorists... |

If they're from the West Side, they should know what's there and what isn't. If they know that York isn't in the neighborhood, they should know it's not close to Rockefeller Center.
I hate watching breaking news, because they must get absolute morons to write it up, as it's usually so far off the mark it's laughable. I've even heard this linked with terrorism already  |
