Whats up with Southern Californians?

Ok I’ll try not to take too much space with this rant, but what is up with the scene down here? Why is it filled with such arrogant pricks? Why are there so many presumptuous morons who have an amateurish high-school mentality? Yes I know we get top Djs right and left, but I conjecture they come here more for the money than the vibe.

Why do I say this? Well I’ve been lucky enough to travel around the globe and go to clubs across our great planet. Almost every place I visited had friendly and amicable people who basically had that original spirit of EDM.

Somehow here in So Cal that spirit seems to be lost. Well it doesn’t take much to realize where we are situated. This is Hollywood after all; it lures in that superficial group of morons who still believe in that “our clique-is-superior-to-your-clique” mentality. Like I said before, wasn’t that in highschool? Seriously, whenever I go out for a break at our lame clubs I see people huddled in their retarded little groups. Oh and when a stranger with friendly intentions approaches eyes roll HAHA…I couldn’t help but notice that when I went out 2 weeks ago.

The sad fact is most of these psuedo-"high-society" idiots are nothing more than a sham; most have menial day-time jobs and rely on their nocturnal club-"cliques" for affirmation LOL!

hahaha... I remember reading a very similar post if not that same one months ago. Ok maybe not months ago but like a yr or so ago.

Please continue, I just wanted to post my first thought as I read your post. I'll let the others fill in the rest.

Have a good night!

As an addendum

I just fondly recall the many awesome parties and clubs I went to worldwide. I usually went with a friend and the great thing was…there was this really friendly communal atmosphere. I mean the sound system could suck but it didn’t matter. My friend and I felt we were surrounded in a true EDM environment and we were! We talked to so many friendly people…there were no noticeable idiotic cliques and everyone was together in their pursuit of “fun”.

Naw, I have to agree the scene in LA is wacked, big time.... San Diego has something kinda cool, but LA is full of a bunch of fake people who have yet to mature and realize what life is about, so they are too busy trying to out do each other.

Instead of actually coming together and bringing a positive energy to each other. I believe the societal energy in LA takes over the minds of the people in this area and they are left being this way with no way out on there own.

Either way, LA is a whole lot of fun and there are thign that a person can experience here that just aren't avaliable anywhere else and after being here, you get to enjoy the differences elsewhere.

I agree. SoCal is getting more wack every day, I even said it on another thread how everyone here seems to be getting spoiled and materialistic. I guess I should've used the word superficial. I remember when I used to be able to go out alone and I didn't care because I would always meet new people. That's nearly impossible now. If you do meet new people today, they are way different than before.

Our scene is driven by $$$ and it takes that extra spark away from it. Look at the ridiculus prices we're paying to see DJs now. $85 for TIESTO is ridiculus, specially when in a city so close as Tijuana he's only $20 for a way better show!

Not only that, but look at PVD. He's at Monster Massive for $50, but you get Armin, Markus, and a ton of other quality talent. Then a month later, PVD is $50 for just him and Jerry Bonham.

I'm sorry but these high prices drive away people who are in it for the love of music, and those unsuperficial.
