Michael Schumacher's Last Race
View this Thread in Original format

So this is it, the last GP weekend that we will get to see the great Schumacher perform. Is anybody else sad? :(

The race is being held at the ghetto Interlagos curcuit in Såo Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday the 29th. Although Interlagos is not as modern as the other races, it is still very fun to watch because of passing areas and sweet mid to high speed corners.

The race is taking place at 4:30pm on Sunday, who else is watching? I am wondering if any sports bars would actually carry the race? It would be pretty cool to watch a race in that environment, instead of just the regular four sports. Would anybody else be interested? Would anybody consider hosting it at their house?

I am not going to miss this race one way or another, I have cheered him on too long to miss this one.

I won't shed any tears. The sport will be better off without him. Just as Villeneuve said, Schumacher will be quickly forgotten!

GO HONDA!!!!!!

I'm definitely watch the race just to see the season to the end. I honestly don't know what i'll be hoping for...someone crashing into alonso, engine failure for him, etc. I think it would be nice for schumi to win since he can walk away happy, but Renault "earned" it according to the current results.

so like i said, i'll be watching it just for the hell of it. i cant cheer either alonso or schumi on because it's not really a battle of the drivers (the factors needed to win the championship arent really in the control of the drivers)....

Senna and Prost were true champions, respected by all.. Schumacher is hated for reasons widely known, that's why he'll be forgotten...

You have not taken into account the biggest factor of all: number of people who have watched him race over his career.

Schumacher: 249 race starts
Prost: 197 race starts
Senna: 161 race starts

Viewers have been able to see him challenge for 4-5 more seasons than Senna or Prost. They have seen Michael battle through Senna, Mansell, Prost, Hill, Villeneuve, Hakkinen, and Alanso. Its been a long run with extreme highs and extreme lows, it is anything but a forgettable career.

Anytime anybody thinks of any extreme in Forumula 1, Schumi's name has to come up, some way or another. Most race wins in a season, most points in a season, most championships, most championships in a row, most idiotic move to win a championship, most points stripped...

Villeneuve's credibility when it comes to sports is nearly 0, and this quote proves just that. No one is forgetting Schumacher anytime soon. Even taking the controversies surrounding him over DECADES of racing in F1, one thing remains constant - his accomplishments. Just because he played dirty a couple of times (what human being hasn't?) doesn't in any way tarnish the impeccable skill he has behind the wheel of an F1 car. For every controversy you bring up, I can bring up 5 examples of things Michael did that are borderline impossible.

The man is a living legend, his ability and talent is second to none.
