or has he already been mentioned? |
Top 10 guaranteed. You've seen how many people are sweating him on here this year, haven't you?
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed by the results. DJs who have gotten worse this year are making big jumps or staying the same (Steve Porter, Sander K, Steve Angello). Armin helps discover Sean Tyas and suddenly he's a top 50 DJ :wtf:. No offense to him (I'm probably seeing him Saturday to see what all the hype's about), but c'mon people. Also, some of the people who fell really far, like Laurent Garnier, Luke Chable, Misstress Barabara, Behrouz, make me :( |

as a producer he's a one trick pony. When he makes something that doesn't sound like everything else he's ever produced, I'll reconsider my opinion. |
Yeah, but how many other DJ's have his sound? Exactly, basically none. Which is why, IMO, it doesn't matter if he tracks are similar sounding. At least he's got his OWN sound, unique from everything else out there. And not to put too much into this poll, clearly his "one trick" is enough to hook a bunch of people on this site at least. |

besides not liking the music he plays, what do you find about him?
i'm interested.. since i voted him my favourite. every set i've heard from him has been perfectly mixed & pristinely put together, with an interesting blend of styles (house/electro/trance/techtrance/techno).. despite me being a fan of his productions they didn't influence my vote in the slightest |
Alright, let me say this first: I don't think people who love SVD are idiots. Not at all, so I'm not here to rag on any of you.
But honestly, the sets I've heard from him have absolutely no sense of programming, his mixing is either terrific or terrible, and I cannot stand the majority of his productions. He's just a DJ and producer who has really never done anything that I thought was of any serious quality, and I think his only accomplishment is propogating the commercial side of dance music much in the same manner that Armin and Tiesto have done over the past few years.
I just don't like what he brings to the table, but understand that a LOT of you do. |

Do you people even listen to sets from some of the people you vote for? Their Essential Mix was an insult to half of the tracks in there. John Tejada should have wanted to slit his wrists after seeing his song making in there. |

Respectfully disagree on this one m8, I could list 10 DJ's who sound exactly the same as him.
And yes, it's been proven time and time again that "one trick ponies" can have lots and lots of success, it's nothing new. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean it isn't the way of the industry. ;) |

lol. Nice one.
I really didn't expect SvD to get that high, even after I made my prediction that he'd get 10th, I wanted to take it back but I wasn't allowed to edit.
He's just so monotone to me; I liked his sound initially because it seemed fresh, but he hasn't changed and adapted. There's so many djs out there like Holden or Sasha or Digweed that continuously change their playlist, genre, and so on and so forth yet still retain their "sound". Sander plays the same crap from the Swedes, a bit of tech trance usually made by himself, and some techno and it all sounds the same. That's it. |
