wisdom teeth (pg. 3)

I had 3 of mine extracted last year, 1 impacted. At first I was nervous but as soon as that funny gas kicked in, I didn't last counting A-Z. Then I woke up next to a girl with enough gauss in her mouth to play chubby bunny with. I was off pain meds in 1.5 days. Hated taking them because it kept knocking me out.

i've never had the gas before :(

1 in each tooth. Apparently it was necessary so he could literally pull the teeth out with brute force (just rocking them from side to side) it was definitel ya weird experience, yet it didn't hurt as such. He's not my dentist now (he moved to another town) and the guy i have now is english-Indian & only a couple of years older than me, and the techniques he was taught for stuff is way different to the other (mid 30s) That injection though, was pretty horrid.

oh i see...well i'm sure you won't have to go through that again, huh?

depends if i have to have any more removed! i think i'll ask for them to do it while i'm out cold

I used to have braces when I was smaller so as soon as my dentist noticed they were growing he insisted on removing them before they made my teeth misalign. All 4 were removed while in my gums. I asked that I be put to sleep because I didn’t want to feel any pressure, but you don’t have to. Having had braces before, the pain wasn’t all that bad. It was almost like going in for your monthly orthodontist check up to be retightened. I wouldn’t eat anything hard or chewy....for example burritos, burgers, pizza....stick to more liquid foods or easy to chew. And try not to explore the wounds with your tongue you don’t want any infections. The pain will last for a good week and you’ll start eating normal again in no time. Good luck

I had 3 come up fine, but the fourth one started impacting a little, and pushed my front teeth out of alignment a bit. It stopped growing though. The dentists Ive had over the years have all told me to get it out, but it hasnt grown in 4 years so Im happy its not going to grow any more. The teeth are fine, and my current dentist agreed that having a 'spare' tooth floating around is always good, incase I have to have another one out in later years.

No point pulling a perfectly good tooth if its doing no harm

The 5 seconds between when they give you the drug combo to knock you out and when you go out are the best part of the whole thing. I have never been so ed up in my life.

Actually both my parents still have all of their wisdom teeth. They never had a problem with em

prepare for the most terrible pain of your life :disbelief

you'll wish you were dead...either gas or needles...they won't save from the horrible destiny

and if you survive afterward...you won't be able to eat in 3 days...you'll be babbling...and pass out

keep them...they'll be like "first time virgins"

they will hurt but you wont want to take it out

Mine are more or less fully grown in as well. As they moved into place, there was a bit of pain that lasted for only 2-3 days maximum - now I do not notice them in the least. The only forseeable problem is that they may one day move my other teeth out of alignment, thus nullifying the years of braces I had to go through earlier in life.

Still, don't always listen to people who have everything to gain from you doing what they tell you to do.

Yes it's expected to experience some temporary discomfort while they come in. I never needed braces but it's true that my lower left wisdom tooth pushed one of my molars out of alignment a bit because it came in at a bit of an angle. Due to the position of that tooth it's not really noticeable though, so it doesn't bother me in the least. Although if I ever wanted to have braces for cosmetic reasons, that one wisdom tooth would probably have to be removed.

I think this is why people freak out and drop $1200 on an operation that is far more unnecessary than they would have you believe.

Dentists are not all that dissimilar to mechanics...
