aite, i'm finally ready to talk about it -
start time was at 11, we finished setting up at 10 - put padding foam in the windows, etc. had 2 sets of speakers but at full volume they still sounded like crap.
invited like 70 people, expecting 30 to show up at most (we had a 40-people capacity, 50 if crowded), didn't know at all how'd it go.
in the end, there were probably up to 45 people at one time dancing in the room and people were constantly going in and out. we thought people would hate EDM, so we wanted to start with reggae / french hip-hop, then pop trance (like sandstorm, atb, etc.), then reggae again, pop trance again, and harder stuff.
there was this girl who always nags us about music, and she followed me repeating "tiesto traffic, tiesto traffic". so when robert told me to start the 'pop trance' mix with traffic, i accidentally put the wrong remix of it (walden) cuz i thought the original was too cheesy.
the people went absolutely nuts! by the time i got through transa's remix of "sparkles" i was going deaf from people yelling and whistling, they were jumping so hard, i had to hold the lcd monitor so that it wouldn't tip over.
everyone absolutely loved the glowsticks, the buildups, i even managed to play a psy tune!
eventually, we got shut down by the cops at around 3 in the morning, most likely because of people smoking and being loud outside, and everybody's saying this was the most amazing party they've ever been to at umass. we chilled a little bit afterwards and basically i went to bed at 6. |

and the best two pictures are of Robert, my flatmate, and our friend Stefan, both going nuts; these EXACTLY show what the party was like:
the time passed for me like crazy, i had so much fun spinning, so gratifying to hear 30+ people yell like crazy. there's more on my facebook i guess but they're not that good. i got a couple short vids i might upload later, but they suck. |
